In a way, Tom's reactions in the whole spider-eating thing was so beautiful and correct and accurate to how Peter Parker/Spiderman would react since he got his powers from a spider, his father dedicated most of his life studying spiders, he calls himself Spiderman, his suit, logos, powers, abilities, designs, inventions, are all based on spiders. I think it's MARVELous how the real Peter Parker/Spiderman himself is terrified, disgusted, and just purely in agony while someone eats a spider in front of him.
