I would reach out to Squarespace support about this issue. I'm not sure why that would be the case and it sounds like it might be an issue on their end.

I did this for my homepage on squarespace 7.1 and the resolution is horrible! Do you have a fix for this? The quality looks better when I use a youtube link but then it shows the title and related videos at the end which is not what I want. Thank you! My video file size is 27 mb and 16 seconds, 3500x1972. HELP!

Same issue for me. My video is 4k and the quality is horrible in mobile view but clear in desktop view. I have tried every size. And its 15 seconds. I also used a 20mb video and the quality is still horrible in mobile view

I did my movie on Imovie on my Mac and it turned out well. I also had higher resolution when I was recording it with my iphone. Hope you found a soiution by now.

Unfortunately there is not a setting for that. It will loop automatically

It was low power mode preventing my video from playing!!! I see the 20MB limit on the "fallback image", so is that what you are basing the file size for video on? Is the thought that, if the 20MB fallback image can load in low power mode (or with poor connection) then a 20MM video can too? Seems logical, just wondering if that's documented anywhere by Apple for iOS low power mode. Thanks!

I replied to your comment on the blog as well! Basically I try for 20mb to limit the amount of data the page has to load. There isn't any way of getting around the low power mode issue, so the 20mb is just my preference for quicker page loading. You can upload videos up to 500mb

Squarespace aparently automatically reduces the quality to improve load times, the workaround is to use a KZbin embed lol ironic.

Unfortunately background videos automatically loop. There isn't a setting to make them hold the last frame.

Mind boggling how the MOST OBVIOUS AND NEEDED features TAKE FOREVER for these billion dollar tech companies to put out! Jesus! Often a one man shop can do better than a 10 billion dollar tech company in terms of basic product features. So annoying. The fact that Squarespace took this long to natively add video (who needs video afteral) is crazy, and represents most of the idiocy of big tech companies putting out complete garbage even though they are staffed with a bunch of MIT people. Insanely and endlessly annoying and a failure of capitalism
