I'll try to help you get into the lore. There are 3 Sri Asih so far in the comics. The one they adapted into this movies is the latest incarnation. The 1st one is Nani, a private investigator born from a wealthy family. The 2nd is Ganis, an environmental activist. The 3rd is Alana, a high school girl who can see ghosts. This adaptation is using Alana but I think the personality is mixed between all 3 incarnations of Sri Asih in the comics. Dewi Asih herself was a leader of an ancient civilization. She was the enemy of Dewi Api the goddess of fire. The fire tornado thingy you saw in the trailer is a manifestation of Dwi Api.

@@nemesiscomix it's been revealed the old lady played by Christine Hakim is Mariani, it's original character for the movie but it's obviously a tribute to the first actress to play the character Sri Asih in 1954, Mimi Mariani (unfortunately the archives for the film is gone, but it's still traceable from newspapers, photos, theater schedule from around that time), she said in the trailer that they're Jagabumi, Jagabumi in comics tells stories about Bumilangit world building through every era, from legenda, jawara, patriot, revolusi. It tells stories about lots of origins, The Amaratia stone, Roh Setan (Demon Spirit), the 3 kingdoms from ancient civilization and the great war, Godam, Wibha, Rawaya, Maza The Conqueror, the Pararaksa, it basically explaining how the universe works. And the dude with glasses is Tangguh, Tangguh is the alter ego of Sembrani one of Bumilangit heroes too, but looks like he doesn't have the power yet, kinda like what they did to Wulan in Gundala (at some point she'll be a hero too called Merpati) The Amaratia stone, got possessed by Roh Setan, and lost souls full of anger, vengeance, death from the great war and became Batu Setan, the red stone that Doktor Setan wears as liontin, and we saw that in the trailer. That stone got passed in every era to different people, to this day. And it has involved in some historical moments through Indonesia's history until now. There's also two groups, Elang Putih and Mata Malaikat. Elang Putih is Si Buta's father Pencak Silat school (Si Buta from jawara era, most likely will be played by Iko Uwais) these guys are the good guys. Mata Malaikat is actually a title, the first one was Runtah, Si Buta Dari Gua Hantu's arch enemy, the one that killed Barda's dad, fiancee, friends, basically slaughtered the whole village, turned Barda Mandrawata into Si Buta. Mata Malaikat has like 3 henchmen called Tritunggal Cemeti Alam, they're the one who passed the Batu Setan (Demon's Stone) through every era, so it's like a never ending battle, in every era. They might change it little bit in movies, but that's the bigger picture in comics.

@@nemesiscomix and Mandala will be played by Joe Taslim, he's like half demon, half immortal character, right? So he lives since around 1600s until now, at one point he met Si Buta and became friends (so we most likely will get Iko and Joe collab like in The Night Comes For Us), Mandala also helped Elang Putih from their fights against Mata Malaikat, Mandala will also be the mentor for The Patriots in the future. He mentored Aquanus, Sri Asih, Maza in comics.

@@nemesiscomix yeah, Si Buta is my favorite Bumilangit character, and knowing Iko will play the role also Timo Tjahjanto (Night Comes For Us) directing it, it's really like dream come true, I can't wait to see the Jawara era (martial art, periodic era heroes) gonna turns out, because I personally just prefer the stories from that timeline, just imagining Joe Taslim as Mandala fighting demons with his devil's sword, it's going to be badass. Joko Anwar said Virgo still coming by the end of the year, they also wrapped a series Tira for Disney+, and Si Buta continuing the development, I'm truly excited for more BCU contents in the future.
