IKR, 10 eps just won't scratch the itch! I'd rather the quality (as in expense, not poor storylines and acting) be a little lower and more episodes made. I'm more than happy if the quality of the CGI and such is no better that Season 1 of SG-1, it doesn't need more money spent and doing that level of effects must be MUCH cheaper now and only get cheaper with AI, things like "The Volume" etc...

I'm so pumped to see where this goes. Bit of a shame that it's 10 episodes due to how iconic the 20 episode format was for the original shows for allowing side-quest type episodes that added to sub plots etc. Don't think there's gonna be time for any of that which is a shame but it's to be expected these days.

you would think advances in technology would make it easier but somehow Star Trek was able to pump out 27 episodes a year in the 80-90s. and even stargate did go up 22-23 i think. but now we get like 8-10 episodes a year.

And each episode would have 1/2 the budget of a 10 ep season. Might be worth it, but some much has changed, expectation wise, regarding Sci-Fi TV shows regarding the "jaw dropping visuals". Those cost money. If you had 21 eps it would likely look like something made on the cheap from 2008. Not what they are going for when they want to re-introduce the franchise to a new group of viewers. Let's see the reaction to a 10ep season and then argue for maybe a 15 ep S2 and to not have to wait 2+ years for the next season.

One interpretation of "Yes and No" to "Military Secret?" is that the first "season" involves a transition from "military secret" to "revelation" to "something else" with multi-episode resolution of the fallout of the revelation. Transition from "military secret" to *anything* else could take a while and give lots of plot development opportunities - what do *you* think would happen in the real world if such a set of secrets, shared by several governments but not all, were revealed to current-day society?

Lets hope they do something to deal with SGU. SGA would seem it needs to be addressed as they ended with Atlantis on earth. Kind of hard to not mention something about that if you start something new on earth.

General Carter would be a much busier Government Official, probably based in Washington and happily married with children at home.. though with who might remain a mystery for quite a while. But she could come to Daniel and the new Companies rescue from time to time.. in-spite of themselves and the IOA. Any spinoff show kind of needs its "Worf" as did Deep Space Nine in the 1990's and should include at least one legacy character.. even if its simply Woolsey retiring to Langara and crossing paths with Jonas Quinn from time to time. Rodney needs a whole show to himself, if not being the bane of Stargate Commands existence as its new head of Research.. but I kind of picture him as a rogue guest star showing up on many Stargate series in complex situations that require his assistance.

I do think the SGA is obvious. Atlantis is either on Earth still or it’s not. Either way, it really needs to be explored somehow. And I agree that the SGU news is good.

Sadly, 10 eps per season per year, I think, is a VERY bad choice. That tells me we're going to end up with more of a soap-opera like show instead of the "monster of the week" that Stargate was famous and LOVED for. Stargate just doesn't shoehorn into that constraint very well and I simply don't see SG truly succeeding with that as, BY NECESSITY, it CANNOT follow the formula that made it so successful in the first place. Shows like Stargate have been generally unsuccessful that bow down to the 10-ep per season runs. Even though the quality per ep goes up, I don't think we're going to like the arc changes that doing so would necessitate. SGU failed a lot because they treated it like a soap opera rather than the adventurous "Monster of the Week" formula. They spent WAY too much time beating the same horse all season on SGU. The "Drones thread" was what ultimately killed my interest in SGU and when I re-watch it (and I do re-watch it at least once a year).. I generally just skip through the boring drone crap and get to the meat of the episode which, let's face it, kills roughly 50% of any episode where they were the focal point. I don't think Stargate will be very successful at all with 10-ep seasons. The series just can't work that way imo. I loved SGU, mostly... when it wasn't trying to be a "space opera". Sadly, hearing confirmation that it's planned to be 10-eps/season/year killed all expectations that it's going to be worthwhile in the long run and if they start with that woke nonsense... even once... I'll tune out and never tune into it again. I'm just done putting up with or "overlooking" that NONSENSE. It's SHITE and I'm not going to shy away from calling it what it is because it might "offend" someone. It's time for those "delicate flowers" to grow up and face the harsh reality that society, in general, is getting fed up with the BS and a lot of us just aren't going to put up with it anymore without calling it out for what it is.

They should hire a single writer with a Vision rather than a Writers room for such a limited Number of shows.. someone like JMS.. sadly the trend has been the "fewer the episodes" the "more the writers".. all tugging at the tapestry until its nothing but incomprehensible "threads" no one can watch. And they are almost by definition an ESG led Strike settlement legion of people with no experience. Perhaps building the ten episodes "off grid" like in Canada.. they can elude the near constant yammering of the Unions and posturing. I think its a good thing it stay in stealth development mode, until its too late to attract the attention of desperate "creators". I kind of think that's how Picard3 got made.. and afterwards.. everyone was claiming credit.. and fans were campaigning for more. In that case however it was more of a shell game, in that they were filming two seasons at the same time, and Picard3 had the less attractive budget and no one wanted to be part of that.

I would say a trio of writers that work very well together and build off of each other in a truly collaborative manner that ALSO looks at what the fans are saying and takes to heart that what THEY envision may not necessarily be what WE WANT. Shows that ignore the fans are doomed to failure, it's been proven time and again yet it seems to be a lesson never learned or, at least, quickly forgotten. I've pretty much given up on TV and movies. Most of my library is pre-2010 stuff and a LOT of it is pre-2000. TV and movies just aren't what they used to be. They've decided to take the lazy way out of everything and just "Reboot" and "remake" rather than come up with something original or continue a previously great series or, more often, take something previously great and just nosedive it straight into the ground with this woke nonsense that literally NOBODY wants. Even those that claim they do, they actually don't but they'll defend it like it's the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel and die on that hill... Yet, press them, and their so-called "support" falls apart under the weight of its own absurdity. Hollywood itself needs a "reboot".

I bet they plan an Arc, using SGU and SGA as "filler" episodes to provide satisfying fan service. Sounds like they want to revisit SGU "first" since its closer to everyone's memory and felt like it had the most egregious of a dangling ending.. so like Spiderman No Way Home.. has the potential for most Old Fan draw.. SGA kind of had an ending.. but also felt like they should have gone back to Pegasus.. the War with the Wraith was basically put on hold. Also, the cast of SGU are supposed to be in stasis, if you bring any of them back, best to do that quickest before De-Aging technology becomes an issue. Lou Diamond Philips as Colonel Telford would be a strong candidate since he was outside and aged normally. The others might have been rescued or found to have been revived and we're left catching up with them, and seeing how they were rescued in flashbacks. SGA basically needs a new crew to pilot her back to Pegasus for whatever reason .. but as the temporary Primary Gate on Earth.. would be a natural springboard for the Gate is Public, but no longer working (in Cheyenne Mountain) .. but when Atlantis leaves.. the cycle renews and an all New Pseudo-Secret Defense force has to take over. Moving the Gate to say.. a Moonbase.. or further.. to a Mars base.. would also be intriguing Possibilities.. since they do have Space travel now and would be safer than allowing off worlders direct access to attack Earth without warnings.

Stargate Atlantis needs to come back but I rather like the earlier seasons vibes. Bring back the Atlantis crew including Weir, get rid of the replicators and bring back the Gemini.

An interesting idea, and I agree the casting worked best the first couple of Seasons. I think they would have to reset that timeline however with Janus and mess with canon severely.. but its probably best to move on.. Weir was brought back in a number of forms.. and is still floating out there beyond a Spacegate, so she could be brought back. Torri Higginson seems to have resolved her issues with many of the writers.. since she appeared on Dark Matter and other later series. A Star Trek crossover on that series with Wesley Crusher.. eads! Undoing deaths though like with Carson Beckett was rather clumsy and was closer to just a wave of the hand and not mentioned much later... that should be forbidden. At least Dr. Weir was "planned" to return from the exit point and it made sense.

@@joey_after_midnight Becketts death should have remained. The ending to ‘Sunday’ is on par with ‘The Shrine’ as one of the most emotional episodes. Death has no meaning if characters come back, and I rather show the lasting impact and the development of the sacrifice. With Weir, it was different, her relationship with Shepard was key to the success of Atlantis as they suffer the mental impacts. Season 4 & 5 lost me, seeing the Wraith would team up with the Humans to fight the replicators was bad. The Wraith lost there ‘mojo’, as they where post to be these life sucking creatures who will stop at nothing. In my opinion, Season 4 & 5 of SGA was the same as SG1 for there season 9 & 10, they rushed things that felt these where a few seasons early. I didn’t like then swapping the leader of the expedition every season, it looked like with trying people please for the SG1 fans (Carter) and the Star Trek fans (Woolsey). You felt MGM had there hands all over it. Plus, one final one. They need to stop jumping between galaxies, it’s making the stakes a lot less. Atlantis needs to be on its own.

Baal, after all, is Guauld, made himself a new body, different from his previous self, and hid it in case the main crowd was caught. 10 years later I came out of hibernation and started stirring up my machinations again. Perhaps they will return Replicators, recreated by the same Baal, or again by stupid little people, they already have experience. Wraiths, a couple of which probably fell to the ground from the superhive. Yes, and in Atlantis, issues need to be resolved. The Lucian Union, which seems to have become the main headache for the times of the Universe. As for the Ori, there are chances in the form of fanatics who, even taking into account the ark, are still faithful to the teachings and simply continue to use the available technologies. In general, it’s very interesting what they’ll come up with, but it seems to me that 10 episodes is not enough, even taking into account the conventional hour-long running time of each episode. But it’s better this way than nothing at all. Although I really hope that the fate of Origins will not repeat itself, where they hammer a huge bolt on the old canon and simply cobble together an incomprehensible something that is not remembered in polite society

Stargate mars base 1 would be cool could maybe find some Egyptian ruins like you see in ancient aliens 🔴👨‍🚀🧐 so depressing being stuck on earth, they better at least talk about plant genetics like are all the trees and stuff related on different planets. The best parts of the show for me is the mythology and archeology and stuffs actually everything about the show is just 👌 chefs kiss perfect wish I lived in the stargate universe also something crazy to me the ufo in Marvin’s house next to the fiber optic lamp looks exactly like one I saw as a kid in a dream where I got tractor beamed and paralyzed I actually don’t really think it was a dream but yeah weird and almost comforting in a mysterious way to see something like that. Please writers do some serious research on the more interesting accounts from people like Charles hall for example the show is already so grounded and believable already but damn there’s lots of interesting developments in the world regarding ufos and stuff now a days. Also be cool to see like the nasa moon rover going through the gate to a world with no atmosphere.

All you really have to do is avoid ESG.. which Amazon has a terrible score in right now.. regardless of the Rings of Power their ESG credit rating is abysmal. They are making too much profits from all their other businesses, it attracts social activism and platformers. They might get away from it with one season.. maybe.. if they are ignored for a while. IF they can spinoff an SGU revival series and sell that to someone like Netflix, they might reach escape velocity and be left to their own good story telling.

The original cast might have been preferable, but they are far from being old enough to do what they could before. The same RDA himself actually asked to cut down his role for the sake of more time with his family. And let's be honest, according to the lore, they have already become too busy to run around the planets in search of adventures in their tender places. And if we want a series comparable to SG-1, then we need a relatively young cast with whom we can work for several years, and not invite them for a cameo for a season and close it, since the entire cast has retired. The universe was also not accepted at first because it was too strikingly different from the main story, but then they parted ways, it’s a pity it was too late. So now we just need to wait for more accurate information from the new series in order to judge how good or bad everything is

I don't think it would be something from one of the other shows. Maybe if it was a villain that originated on Sg-1 like the jerkface Asgard in Pegasus being derived from the Asgard. Still, I'd think it's something SG-1 related.

7:42 I can see a conclusion of SGA, but i don't see them concluding SGU yet, because that show only had two seasons. The writers planned five seasons for this show, and so it woukd make more sense (for me) to allow three more seasons for SGU, because the storyline has much more potential than SG-1 & SGA.

Unfortunately the days of 22 episodes a season are long gone. With only ten this season, they need a smash hit, and then try to launch spinoff series as quickly as possible.. to perhaps rebuild a syndication network that no longer exists. They (might) launch Nu-SGU as a "for sale" series on the success of the Renewed SG1 series and like Yellowstone, use the profits from that to pay for future SG1 seasons.

@@joey_after_midnight When i said more seasons for SGU, i did not mean 20 episodes per each season and i already knew that those days are over (and let's be honest, 20 episodes for a season of television is way too much for today's television or streaming shows). Personally, the ideal number of episodes would be in the likes of 12-16 episodes for Stargate.

Yeah I did catch that and figured out who he was talking about. Thing is all the other channels with posh graphics and sets and the get nothing and he’s getting all the gossip essentially sat in his lounge.
