I think they were very smart in the marketing for this store. Get the bargain hunters drooling over the one-dollar items that they miss getting at Dollar Tree, but also entice them with tons of cool stuff that costs a little more but still a good deal. I was pretty impressed by the massive selection you showed us in the store. Sounds like it will do well, and I can't wait to see one open up near me!

I got to see a pop shelf in 2021 in AL and one just opened near me 01/2023 in SC. It is absolutely a brilliant marketing strategy, like a middle-aged woman's 5 Below. Honestly, Dollar Tree has been losing my business because they went to $1.25 but the items really didnt get better. The stores are also always messy and lacking stock. Im kind of person that will calculate the price oer kitchen sponge in a pack and DT was 1.25 for 1 when walmart was at $.98 and i got a bulk pack from amazon for .58 per sponge.

I'm going to the one near me, now that Dee showed me all that I am missing for just $1. It is a little ray of hope in this messed up economy. I used to love shopping but now it just make me feel bad. It is depressing how much I am spending now a days and I don't feel like I am buying any more or different items. Just paying more and getting less product. :(

@@deejustdee4752 Yeah, the economy is pretty bad for casual buying. I have always had the habit where I do a lot of "shopping" but not a lot of "buying". I make a list of the items I would like and do an initial shopping trip online to know what is the going price. Then I keep scouting thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales and wealthier neighborhoods on heavy trash day (the scheduled day for furniture and big items to be left on the curb for the garbage truck). My recent finds hav been a replacement pyrex loaf pan for the one I dropped for $3, a large, sculpted 1970s vintage owl lamp already rewired with LED bulb for $20, and a very large vintage drop leave table with perfectly working mechanisms and minimal wear for $30.

Great shopping with you...there is a PopShelf in our area of NC and I find it to be just as you described. Further all Dollar Trees are not "created equal", meaning, what you find at one you will not always find at another. Several times, I've "bunny-hopped" around to find what I needed " that each of the PopShelf stores carry the same items (personal peeve, I guess)😊. Enjoyed it, today.

I couldn't agree more. I was looking for the white string tags i had found at one DT and bunny-hopped to eight stores in search of more but to no avail. Happened upon them this weekend and the tags come 60 to a bundle whereas before I was paying 1.25 for 30.

I've been shopping at PopShelf for almost two years, and it's been a good experience. I do wish they would spruce up the Dollar Generals around here, though! (There are MANY.)

@@jamiesmith3837 They're almost all in the Southeast and Appalachians, with some stores in Ohio and Illinois. I assume their big growth plan includes moving further out, but IIRC there are very few DGs in the Northeast, at least.

Yes I have this store been shopping there for about a year they do have great season clearance all the stuff like home decor and everyday things keep a eye on those they are normally 75% off last time it was 90% . Enjoy your new Pop shelf store it’s so fun to go there😊

I discovered Pop Shelf a couple years ago.LOVE the store. I don't get to go as often as I would like to as it's in a area I only go to once a month & it over a hours drive from me. In my opinion you can do much better at Pop Shelf than Dollar Tree. Since Dollar Tree went up to a $1.25 & decrease the quantity of so many items I found I can do so much better at so many other stores.Thanks for taking us along on your shopping trip.

They’re probably going to start putting some of these on every corner just like they have the DG stores literally every place you go and I shop there a lot because the distribution center isn’t very far from where I live so they have a lot of good stuff there . I really like this place I hope that they start popping up everywhere just like the DG’s are . I like it better than the other stores !

They have one in my area. I've been in there five times. Found so many great deals for junk journals,crafts and even Valentine's. Even scoped up after Christmas stuff just last Friday at 90 percent off. So I know every holiday I'll be checking them out a little more often.

I live in Tallahassee FL and had to drive to Dothan AL which was 103 miles to the store to check them out. That was the closest store to me and in a different time zone but almost a 2 hr drive from where I live to there. I do hope they eventually bring one here but for a state capital we have more medical weed and oils stores, liquor, gyms and other stuff then we have for great shopping. When I went to the store I was blown away of how many great items were there. If anyone has not gone they need to go!

I love Pop Shelf. I don’t have one where I live, but there is one in my hometown so I always stop in when I visit. Also they sell true Rae Dunn items so I think those bowls & plates were authentic.

@@judyparks5016 I live in the San e area as Catherine.. The first Popshelf store was opened around 2 years ago. They only opened a few to see how they would do. Now we have a 2nd store that just opened around Charlotte NC.. I’m excited to go check out the newest one. If you have a newer DG or a remodeled store around you, they carry a small selection of the items that are in the popshelf stores. I was told that you could look the DG up by searching for “NCI Home DG” but that doesn’t work:(.. I just had to check all of the ones in my area to see which ones had been redone. The DG with the “home” section in the middle of the store, most have a table with seasonal decor on it, with the aisle on each side for the “home” selection. Plus, they have a larger craft section. They have beautiful throw blankets, rugs, tons of great kitchen items and beautiful florals. So even if you don’t have a popshelf yet.. Hopefully you can find a DG that Carrie’s some of the items! Also, download the dollar general app because they always have a $5 off of $25 coupon for Saturday’s!!

Looks like I have 3 in tennessee about 30 minutes away. I am surprised they dont have any in nashville Tennessee, which is a huge town 1 million people. The popshelf are in smaller towns, but in metropolitan areas. Great job🤩
