@@Bluemantopvids That's not really NSMB Wii's fault, that's more on the devs because they *chose* to reuse the same music for 2 and U, and basically played it relatively safe with them out of active choice. NSMB Wii itself was still an awesome game at the time and to this day still stands strong on its own. Blame the devs and their choices, not the game. Fortunately, however, all these years later we are finally getting a new 2D side-scroller Mario game this year, Super Mario Bros Wonder, and it's looking to be truly original despite obviously being the next 2D side scroller Mario game. It's taking the most risks and steps forward since NSMB Wii itself did.

Im gonna be honest. This boss battle may be kind of bland, but I've always loved the insane scale of it. Mario staring off at the giant bowser always had such a cinematic feel to it. With the theme, it really felt like finale in every sense of the word. Like Mario was staring insurmountable odds down, and daring them to blink first.

For this case it's probably some kind of emergency lava drainage switch. In NSMB Wii it was located somewhere Mario couldn't have gone if not for the destruction Bowser caused, so that was more understandable. Here, he had no excuse.
