Most I've ever played New Super Mario Bros. Wii was 2 players. Me (Mario) and my cousin (Luigi) were actually helping each other instead of grieving or just plain out trying to troll each other like most multiplayer footage tends to be. Both of us didn't get a Game Over and had 99 lives as soon as World 4. Although we still died quite a bit in the later worlds but didn't come anywhere near to losing all of our lives, World 9 included. There's a reason the Best Multiplayer experience comes with 2 Players and not all 4.
