Cameron chill man. Lol, once you put that together that's going to look amazing those Forks look Wicked pissah bro. Just putting it out there them things look great and I'm sure they will function amazingly well. Don't sweat the small stuff. I do understand you pay a lot of money and you want to get what you pay for but sometimes stuff happens if it was me I would run it and the next time I have them done I'd make sure that they do it the way I wanted it originally. Aside from that, they clearly do a quality job, so the coating should hold up for a while at least until your forks need a complete rebuild I'm sure the coating will serve its purpose and do what it's supposed to do. it clearly looks like it was done right. That thing looks amazing just saying

It's a bummer when you have a vision in your head and it turns out differently (especially when it's out of your hands) but those forks, along with the shock and your powder coating, look perfect together! Also, really looking forward to seeing the valving video and how much of a difference you notice in speed and/or overall comfort. Nice work!

The details on this suspension is outstanding! Watching how the SKF seals colour matches the tubes is amazing, the same goes with the red nut on the valve and the spring. Man, this is so satisfying to watch!

I just put together a nitrogen setup to fill shocks and really whatever I want with nitrogen like tires because nitrogen holds a more steady pressure than air. You can get into it really cheap, the tank will be the biggest expense. I bought a no loss chuck digital filler but you can also just fill it off the nitrogen regulator with a regular air chuck by setting your regulator to the desired pressure and that will get you close. I paid under 50 bucks for a regulator on amazon then 25 for a hose but you can get a lot cheaper on the hose. A little tip as well what i learned is the no loss chuck needs to thread on quite a ways onto the Schrader valve and mine were too short so motion pro makes a Schrader valve extension that fixes this so you can use a no loss chuck. For anyone thinking about getting their own nitrogen filling setup you really should because it can be done a lot cheaper and better i think than the nitrogen filling kits you can buy. Like I said for the bare minimum a tank, regulator, hose, air chuck it can be done at a very reasonable cost. You can also get a no loss chuck by itself for 30 dollars on amazon and use the regulator for the guage if your worried about using a regular tire chuck. My local bike shop charges 38 dollars to fill with nitrogen and they are the only shop around that has it.

A little tip on shock assembly--clamp the body (safely!) in a vise, and with the piston submerged and the body full of fluid, WHACK the rod end with a ~2 pound (or so) Rawhide Mallet. You're only moving the piston an eighth inch or so, but it will splash a bit sometimes. Repeat until no more bubbles emerge. This is the *only* way to get all the air out of the valve stack. If you think you've been doing it right all these years, try shocking the stack as described, I guarantee you WILL get bubbles out of the valve stack!

Great job and instructional vid and I have worked on many of my own shocks over the years. I got sick of the "mystery" of woking on suspension parts and the outrageous fees the shops charged for the work. So I decided one day I was going to tackle the suspension mystery and as it turned out it's no mystery at all you just need to do a little research, watch some great vids like yours and buy a few inexpensive "special" tools and it's not that big a deal. The tools were far cheaper than what the shop charged and I figured, hey, wtf, if I screw it up I can, then, just take it to the shop...That said, as you pointed out, it is critical you have not even one small air bubble in the oil of the shock or that will expand when the oil heats up and the shock will fade big time and there's goes your dampening. What you didn't say or do which I like to do is, when you finish the shock, before you put the spring on, get the nitrogen filled to spec then stand the shock on end and compress the shock, then let it expand on it's own and if you have any air in it, the shaft will push back out at normal speed until it is at the last maybe inch of the travel then it will speed up and kind of snap out quick at the end of the travel. That's a sure way to check if you missed some air bubbles before you re-assemble everything and figure out later when riding you need to pull everything apart and do it over... I have a big write up on "YFZCentral" detailing shock rebuilds. User name "trxxx250r". It's regarding a YFZ450R quad bu it's the same thing.

Another great video Cam, never seen anyone pay so much attention to detail as you do and i'm the same. I have to ask you though about the Ceracote and powder coat. I've done 2 frame up restorations on LT80's and i loved doing it, plus selling the 2nd pretty much paid for the 1st. Anyway i plan to restore my 2004 KX250F back to showroom condition and was wondering how much money do you think you have put into the CR250 with using those coatings? Of course i plan to coat them myself, just would like to know about how much do you have invested in just the materials. Thanks (I never sold the bike because i think it's gonna be pretty cool to have Kawasaki's 1st modern 4-stroke race bike)
