Suzuki is NOT owned by Toyota. Toyota has around 5% of the shares in the company.

Of course its not comparable to Tesla. However we live in a time where 150 horsepower Volkswagen Golf costs 40 000 euro. This car will have awd, solid range and similar power to weight ration as your best selling ICE cars while being an EV. Also knowing Suzuki this car will cost around 30-35 000 euro, significantly undercutting many EVs in price. All in all, good step by Suzuki in the right direction.

i know its nitpicking, but the boot space comparison to a model y and others is a bit of a stretch, i mean they are way longer cars , like 50cm- ish longer so naturally if you design it well you have more space. so i would think comparing similar sized cars boot space would be more relevant? well thats just my view of things.

@ellisrochlin226722 күн бұрын
It's Suzuki , so nothing to get excited about , the longer range batt is the only one maybe worth mentioning. As it's got another 15 months at least before it gets on the road it won't have long waiting lists in UK.
@JackMelqart22 күн бұрын
yeah , the car is way underpowered, a single motor version at that weight should have 160Hp at least as lowest option and a dual motor version should be 250Hp
@Reddylion22 күн бұрын
Agree.... Just for name sake it's AWD but reality it's just single motor like under power, less than byd atto 3 torque...... 310 nm.

Size and boxy roomy design very similar to the new Kia EV3, but the EV3 has larger battery packs. That brick like front is going to hit high speed efficiency hard.

after that statement that toyota owns suzuki I lost confidence in the entire video. toyota owns less than 5% of suzuki. how can i trust the rest of the video if the intro is already 95% wrong. a simple google search will actually tell you that eVitara is going to get rebadge by toyota. which means toyota did not build it
@Noifnobutsirftakatak21 күн бұрын
Though I agree the Channel stated this simple fact wrong, the cross-ownership model seems to be massively focused on building EVs in collaboration. So the later part of the statement might be a bit less misleading, as Toyota and Suzuki both built the vehicle

Toyota do not own Suzuki. They are independent of eachother but both own shares in the other company. They have cross collaboration especially with EVs to reduce costs in research and development.

It’s not just Tesla and Chinese brands this is competing against. There are some European offerings that are better. Renault are doing good EVs with range like the Megane and particularly the Scenic, with R4 & R5 coming soon. Even some of the Stellantis products like our Peugeot e2008 should be better than this, with more space, similar range and power but LESS weight!

@i6power3022 күн бұрын
It all comes down to the price. It being a "Japanese", though crappier in specs and quality compared to Chinese EVs. They will still charge a premium just because of the perceived "Japanese superiority".

Perhaps Toyota is trying to acclimatize drivers to dog slow EVs as a way to pave the way for H cars and hybrids with tiny motors.

The reason they are giving less torque and power is Suzuki is due hard known for there efficiency in India, so they want to be able to achieve the rage they claim, so they are happy to make ev boring in performance so as to get drivers not to try to have fun with torque 😂 . Secondly it’s launching in India next year march . Thirdly it’s b4z platform that was given to Suzuki to make a low cost alternative so will mostly be less safer than b4z when it comes to crashes 😂, but uses BYD battery so should be reliable on most scenarios . This is just a no nonsense ev for the masses who doesn’t care much about the performance of the car yet want the car to be reliable on the range front

The bigger disappointment is that this car will do good in India.. Really shows that Indian automotive market is 15 years behind the world.. The market is pathetically tariffed for imported cars (150% or more), Terribly slow charging infra.. such a waste for a country with high car demand and newly built superb highways..
@Seventh7Art22 күн бұрын
Ground clearance is pathetic for off-roading... Range is also mediocre...
@mefobills27921 күн бұрын
Americans want large puckups and SUVs. That huge market would be dominated by BYD DMO technolgy such as their pickup and large SUV models. All a Japanese company has to do is copy the format. Place blade batteries between the framerails, and use a clutched gearset that engages the front wheel diff above 42 mph for parallel hybrid (towing and better efficiency). The market is there, but not filled.
