Honestly, for the price, it's pretty disappointing to not be backlight. There in no excuse for it IMO. Even the WinWing Airbus products that are only $150 come with backlighting. When I look to buy hardware, backlighting is a must have for me. I don't always sim with full lights on. Especially when doing a night flight.
@g-locmedia12 күн бұрын
Yep, I did think it should have backlighting, but it wasn't too much of an issue. I've held the Winwing Airbus products and yes the backlighting is nice on those and the price is very very good but also it feels like a toy in comparison. Still, Winwing are creating some great mass market options.

900€ with no backlighting, and a 50€ ”upgrade” for what is essentially just a software update is crazy. I like the idea and its exactly something i would want. Not too big, has the features i would want etc, baring maybe lighting controls. But id pay MAX 300-400€ for something like this. And thats at the high end. A grand for this? Forget it

Seems like an odd choice to not use dual concentric rotary encoders as found on real avionics and other similar products. Looks like you have to push and turn to set the MHz portion of a frequency rather than just turning an outer knob.

Not something I initially picked up but I see where you're coming from

On the product page it mentions transponder functionality but I didn’t see that demonstrated.
@g-locmedia4 күн бұрын
There's lots of functions that weren't demonstrated as there's just too much. I recommend downloading the product instructions to go deep on it. There's a link in the description.

Why couldn’t they put the correct shape knobs?
@g-locmedia10 күн бұрын
Are you referring to the way that a g1000 knobs might be? eg. Heading is different from altitude?

Your setup is going in a direction that not all products would be needed but so much of the new things coming out is just what the Doctor ordered. Do you Even Get surprised anymore over all the units a new Sim Pit could pick from to build their Dreams with? Do You know of Any Unit Not Made that You would like to see for Your Sim Pit? Thank You for another Another good Video. Congratulations and Joy to you.

In a way it sure is. Id love to see some sort of modular frame in which you could hot swap out things like parking brakes, flaps, dials and so on

Amazing little box, I’m surprised you cut a hole in your dash for it though. What will you use it for that the G1000 doesn’t do?

I've got a few dashboards with different cut outs.

It is beautiful, but the AXAIR MIAP Pro 24 offers many of the radio and autopilot functions, though you have to rely on the information on the monitor, but this actually is more like being in the plane because you are looking at the instrument panel and still watching outside. The MAIP Pro 24 is only $119. I thought the MAIP Pro 24 was just a stepping stone to something better, but after 6 months, I am content with it.
@g-locmedia10 күн бұрын
Nice. I don't have any experience with the MAIP. Is it just autopilot or does it have more functions?
@shenmisheshou700210 күн бұрын
@@g-locmedia It has autopilot functions such as toggle autopilot, autothrottle, IAS, heading, altitude, and vertical air speed. It lets you select NAV mode and change between VOR and GPS. It allows you to change radio and Nav frequencies in either tens, or decimal by flipping a switch. You can also select your your transponder settings ,and your ADF settings and several other fucntions. Also, there are two shift buttons that let you assign additional functions to these buttons. There are some good KZbin videos on it. This was going to be a transitional piece of hardware for me, but as I used it more and more, I realized that did most of the stuff I needed, and for now, I don't feel the need to upgrade. One thing important to mention is that it does not come with any bindings, but the instructions will walk you though setting ever labled function on the panel.

You reckon the unit could be mounted on top of the Honeycomb Alpha or Bravo units? Cause it looks like, looking from the side, the screen angle is about the same as the Logitech flight/radio panels.
@g-locmedia10 күн бұрын
Yes but you'd need to use something like Alien Tape to stick it down.
@Izmael131011 күн бұрын
In the past we did not have many HW controllers, but now it is the exact opposite. We have multiple controllers which overlaps with controls among thsemselves. If I would buy it I would take control away from my streamdeck and honeycomb bravo in terms of all the buttons and knobs. Because of Boeing yoke and logitech multi switch panel and HB bravo I have 3x gear lever and 2x button set for all lights. And you cant do anything about it.
@g-locmedia11 күн бұрын
Yea I agree with that. There's is much crossover these days. Would be cooler to have some sort of modular fame where you could buy and just snap in the bits you need.
@paulinvancouver12 күн бұрын
I'd be curious to know about the overlap between this device, and the G1000 sim you have. It seems like much of the functionality is duplicated, isn't it?
@g-locmedia12 күн бұрын
Yea it does. Almost all the AP and Radios stuff is present on the G1000. If you already have a G1000 you'd be doubling up a fair bit.

Yep you can't skirt around the coast of the virtual fly gear but they also do have some of the best build quality around and as far as I know are not mass produced. Buy yes, you do need deeper than average pockets.

I actually own a Virtual Fly Switcho Radio and I can vouch that it's indeed a verry nice device for radio, autopilot and much more. I really enjoy this device and I know it's rather expensive but it's worth it.

Thanks for sharing your experience. How long have you had it?
@HansElzer12 күн бұрын
@ I have the device for over a year and used it in FS20 and FS24. I mostly fly GA aircraft. The first week I had some problems updating the Radios firmware but the support from Virtual Fly was great so we got the firmware updated successfully. When FS24 came out I asked them if and when FS24 updates where coming out and the told me it was coming soon and within two days it was working just as good in FS24 as it did in FS20 so that was quick. After an new update it stopped functioning and was only sending data to FS24 but not retrieving date. So after one email support contacted me for a remote session whit a special took they have for that. As I was a Microsoft software developer for more than 30 years we could together find a fix very quickly. The fixed the VFHub and firmware software in the fly. So great support and a happy customer. Now we are a couple of versions further and everything works great. No hassle with controller setup everything simply works through there VFHub software and that is for most of the Virtual Fly devices. So expensive sure but if you can afford it is great value. I own a Yoko+, TQ6, Switcho Trims and the Switcho Radios. I am saving up for the Radios PFD addon and some extra Switcho. devices but Christmas is coming soon. 🇳🇱

It's definitely up there in price, but the build quality is also some of the best and these are not mass produced. However there are other cheaper options available. I guess it all depends on what you want to get out of it.
