Yugoslavia has the most powerful focus tree in HOI4 which is Unify the Kingdom,where all puppets and their states become core. You can't easily conquer Greece,Bulgaria,Romania, Hungary before 1939. UK and France will guarantee you which is also good. You can rush Fighter 3 in 1939 also. Love your work FBG!

It's only puppeted Bulgaria, Hungary, and the Yugoslavian states that get cored. Also, you don't get cores on territory your puppets don't control at the moment of that focus completing. For example, if you haven't yet conquered Istria or Zara from Italy, you will lose those cores once you unite the crowns. If you release Transylvania as a puppet but don't conquer the territory from Romania, you won't get those cores. It's still a good path, but it's not "core the world" good.

@@t0bb00 if I recall right there is a guide for that. Basically Bulgaria, Hungary and other countries in the region have focus trees to get cores too. So you feed Romania, Greece and, if I recall right, Turkey to Bulgaria, wait for it to core them and then core it. Same for Austria through Hungary. There's also some way to get a part of Italy. I don't recall the full list, but the timeline is built around early wars and the fact that fascists don't get guaranteed. And abusing said focuses of small neighbours, most of them broken ones(ie Bulgaria) added from Battle for Bosporus.

But focus tree is so long and boring, Italy starts to justify in 1940 when Germany declared war in 1941, we need more paths like maybe big Serbian or something like that, or like for big Croatia, we need true fascist and communist path, communist path with making your faction sucks, of course you get friends but we need focus to start and core them and make United Balkan Federation, and of course we should get any focus to get Bulgaria without justifying wargoal and taking their core because they are Yugoslav. For monarchist we need better unify the Yugoslavia, because in that time without Tito, people in Macedonia, Kosovo and Montenegro said that they are Serbs, why wouldn't we get same like for Bosnia or Croatia option to remain unified for some smaller nerfs until we unify, so unfinished focus tree.

I'll be honest, I've been running 27 width medium/heavy flame tank "space marines" since No Step Back came out pretty much. One support company/1 tank batallion makes a bigger difference in a 27 width than a fat 40 width so I figured it would work. You almost lead me astray with the the heretical 10 width meta, but in my steadfast adherence to the codex astartes I persevered. I am glad to see you have returned to the emperor's light.

As long as you are using my strat of using light tank recon and light flame tanks with light infantry, maybe you will also be interested in: Light tank supported special forces, special forces terrain modifiers apply to the whole division, just picture mountaineers carrying tanks up the side of mountains.

@@cebulak6695 It does matter. Recon companies can slow your division down. You can easily check this yourself by attaching a cavalry recon to a motorized division, it'll instantly get slowed to cavalry speed.

Neat strategy. I feel like this approach of flipping neighbors is something that La Resistance meant to do, but didn't quite work out. The propaganda and boost ideology missions are just too weak and the buffs don't do much to help them out. There should be a mechanic in the intelligence agency (or somewhere in focus trees?) to really strengthen these types of missions/operations to add another dimension to the game. I can see a strategy where a smallish nation in a 'safe' area could invest in a strong agency (as opposed to military) to flip nations to their faction or even puppet them. It would potentially be a lot of button-clicking as you did here, but it would be a neat alternative way to build up an industry and manpower for a nation that doesn't start with much. I could see doing this with nations that start out in the small/medium size like Iran, Greece, Bulgaria, the Scandinanvians, Argentina, etc. It would also be cool to actually destabilize enemies, or imagine being the UK/USA and flipping Germany to democratic on historical. It would have to be expensive to a degree, but also just be doable, which it currently isn't. As-is, the spy agency basically only has 3 uses: intelligence for military buffs, cryptography for military buffs, and collaboration government for compliance.

I will never stop whining about how bad Paradox espionage expansions are. Or at least are in Stellaris and HOI4. "Lets have an entire expansion based around something nobody is asking for! Lets make it separate to the normal game experience and not very fun. Oh, and just for good measure, lets make it near useless!" Don't know what they were smoking, but the fact they did it twice boggles my mind. Only reason why I ever go spies is if I'm playing multiplayer and am really tryharding. Other than that...for the achievements?

paraguay can get all south america except uraguay and the euros cause of it. take out bolivia, annex or puppet, communist coup faction chile, then kick chile from faction and justify. since chile is 100 percent communist from the coup united states will not get involved in paraguay chile war, before united states completes monroe doctrine, take out argentina, coup all other countries until the allied holdings and uraguay, who is too stable to get coup'ed. from then on tugal is easy to take out and is not backed by anyone. spain is next, but by that time in the game you will get nuked unless you man your airforce which is almost impossible

In my variation of this, I take the like, 15% cost hit for using improved cannon 2, as this goes a long way towards completely neutering any concentrated breakthrough medium tanks, and makes this set up more meta-division resistant. The peak armor a support company like this can threaten is actually quite high, of around 45-ish, if you pick up the tech for squeeze bores, but the casual small cannon 2 high soft-attack loadout knocks out 25-30 armor divisions. While this isn't enough to beat a major nation in multiplayer, it at least gives you the ability to put up a very serious fight against modded multi-player emulating Ai's which provide increased difficulty.

Germany AI have infinitary division hardcoded to 9 infantry, 3 artillery, arty company, engineer company and AA company, so that mean no AT company, and low penetration. Also it only research 1st AA gun. So until 42/43 and RPGs, they have around 14,3 penetration, and it goes above 30ish after 43.

Makes many nations far less viable than they should be. That said, I haven't run it since the new update. May have gotten better there.

Like im playing the afghan northern alliance and the basic infantry unit requires 800 small arms, a bunch of c&c equipment, 54 ATGM's, 40 MANPADS, 14 Main battle tanks, 16 IFV's, some APC's and 6 self propelled artillery. Do you know how many mils afghanistan has to produce all of this? 0! And how many civs does it have to build the mils? 0! "Oh but surely you can make money to buy the equipment?" With what? The afghan economy is non existent and the focus tree makes it go from non existent to worse. And in the end game you're supposed to fight pakistan (which surprisingly im winning).

Any thoughts on whether adding a light tank division or two into the infantry template would increase effectiveness? The whole historical “French” template of incorporation of armor into infantry divisions instead of dedicated armor? Seems that with all the recent changes the potential is there now.

Were they light though? Both H35/39 and R35/40 were still infantry tanks with rather heavy armor and questionable mobility. If I recall right, medium cavalry/cruiser S35 by Somua had comparable armor, but better gun and mobility then them. Then there were two other mediums, infantry D2 and "char de bataille" B1(idk what to call it and translating it would cause confusion with MBTs) which also weren't any slower then supposedly "light" infantry tanks(at least when they were maintained). The only tank that can match the definition of light as, well, light is AMC. And if you want to stretch definition of tank to armored cars, those few prototypes of 47mm armed Panhard. Meanwhile french heavies like Char 2C, FCM F1 and ARL/AMX Tracteur were basically a waste of research budget.

@@TheArklyte kinda but any nation in hoi4 that can spit out heavies in enough number can afford dedicated armor divisions for encirclements… thinking mid to high production capable minor powers that need to push the line with infantry anyways… 24 infantry divisions with a slot or two of added lower production light tanks spread across a front of of an army group would increase the benefits of a primary infantry push. Same infantry division template copied but to add on a little extra armor/piercing etc…

@@chriscomchi4042 1)Feedback did a video on tanks vs rocket artillery specifically for those nations. 2)the point of using light flame company and light tanks recon company supports are primarily for bonuses to movement, combat, defense and even (albeit small) to entrenchment. For cheap. Armor, hardness and piercing are just bonuses to that. You want to turn it over on its head in priority list.

My man Ive just palyed Yugo non historical. What I did is convert roughly 30% of my forces to 7/2 to mechanized (4 mechanized, 3 motorized, 2 motorized artillery) ... 500 defense and 140 breakthrough with 10km/h speed with -80% supply use ... THE NUMBERS

Ok, so I'm totally new to this game (dropped $150 for the ultimate edition on steam last weekend... 🤦‍♂️) I've done about 4 game builds, first of which was the 190 something factories by 39... gave up one that one during Spanish civil war as I just couldnt win... each time I've gone thru a new game build I've learned leaps and bounds... granted I'm using straight cheat codes at this point, but that's pretty much helping me to understand out how everything fits together in this puzzle... I'm in the middle of the summer 1936 Germany (been using ic command at midnight to get daily ship production, honestly this is the only way I've been able to figure out how to build my navy from a structure standpoint)... I got all of my air wings made, mostly full trained, within the next 2-3 game days I should have all my navies up and training. I have 3 armies in one army group setup to be defense from franceto the west, as they almost always invade me when I'm invading poland... maybe I'm waiting too late in game to invade? Neither here nor there... I've watched about a ton of videos for this game to learn stuff, and while generally that has helped a ton... the current meta is what escapes me... the newest game build I'm doing I've been tweaking in the early stages since like friday... by a tech level I should flatten the world, but that hasnt always worked when I've had that mindset... what kind of invasion division combat widths should I be looking at with medium panzer 4s? What kind of combat widths should I be looking at for basic infantry? What combat widths are best for defending a line? I just wanna play thru this game and do 100% world domination... I realize when I get places like Asia the combat meta will be way different, Africa too, but for now I wanna take up to the soviet union and form a line... either way, any combat width division tips you can throw at me so i can actually enjoy this play thru and not get my ass kicked? Lol... i just want the last 2 days I spent setting this up to count... lol

One thing with tanks that seem to be very meta - garrisons. Take basic light tank and add heavy machine gun for a total of 1xp. You will get an extremely cheap tank with terrible stats, but that doesnt matter. Create a division with a few of them and put it on garrison duty. It has the same suppresion as armoured cars, but its few times cheaper and more armoured, and its better in every way than infantry or cavalery for this. Yes. But flames have big debuffs so it's not as effective
