Joe, I'm just a stranger on the internet to you, and I want to make sure I'm acknowledging that in what I say because parasocial relationships are a thing. I've been watching you since the Scout days, since right before you moved north from Sault Ste Marie, so I've gotten to see you interact with a fair number of canine companions over the years. You are an amazing dog dad (and human dad too). I know the loss of Tripper is still weighing you down, and I am grieving with you. I also know that you will be giving your daughter back her dog at some point here, and getting another in time when the time is right someday. I grew up with a standard poodle much like you did, and I miss him fiercely. Watching you with Beauty, watching the way she vibes around the camp with you, it just made me think, from one poodle lover to another, one would make an excellent canoe companion for you the way you hoped Tripper would. Poodles are super chill, blisteringly smart and fast learners, and willing to work when asked. IMHO they're the perfect dog period, but I'll own that bias lol. Again, I don't want to seem insensitive in your time of grief, and I've only offered my thoughts because you've shared things openly with us already. I been with out a dog since February 20 the same time Scout died. 1st time i ever been without one an its not easy. Only reason is I'm to old. Thanks Joe, great video

@@marjorieshaver4370 I've thought of that alot! I like medium to big dogs an it hurts so bad to comb them an give them a bath. I didnt have to comb the last 2 cuz i got short hair dogs. My boxer (got 2 boxers given to me free. My brothers neighbor died so i took him an some people didn't want their's so i took it) was allergic to flea medicine so i gave him a bath every week. Then i was trying to carry a 40lb bag of food an almost passed out. Thought I was going to have a heart attack. I live at poverty level to so i have a hard time with med. an vet bills too. They both died of cancer. The last one couldn't eat his food anymore so i cooked him chicken and rice for a year an had to wash his bedding every day. It's just to much. If someone gives me one i would take it or if a stray came to my house. I been talking to my cat an training him things. I didn't know you could train cats things. I have to keep him on a leash when we go outside because my neighbor catches them and twists a clothes hanger around thier tails an hangs them somewhere. He does the same with raccoons. He had my 16 yr. Old for a month an she didn't hardly have any fur left an weight almost nothing an had cuts all over an her back was sunk down. Started in 2016 an took me along time to figure out what was going on. He poisons too sometime. It's very nerve wracking! When my dog died i went an bought a shotgun because Im a girl an he's big. @@chrisblack8390 I've taught our little cat to sit for treats and also to, "Sit pretty," Which is like a begging position for a dog, but you try to tell a cat to beg and it will look at you as if to say, "You gotta be kiddin' me!!!" Two things excite our cat--When I ask her if she wants to play, she goes nuts and meows all over the place with excitement. I have a catterpillar-looking thing at the end of a telescoping fishing rod sort of thing and it gives her a workout. She also comes alive when we ask her if she wants her snack, which is given to her late at night. I'm not a cat person, but we took her in when she was very little because the feral cats would intimidate her and take the food we were feeding her. I love animals, too.

@@mawmawvee my cat is 18 or 20 lbs. He gets pretty wild when i play with him and goes for my feet. So i quit playing with him. He's smart too an knows alot of words. But hes sure not a dog! I met a 100 lb. Sheep dog last weekend when I was visiting my parents at the old folks home. He's got a golf cart called Jethros ride an his owner drives him around visiting the old people. What a beautiful dog! I had fun meeting him.

Outstanding shots of the glassy lake with tree reflection, Beauty at the bow of the canoe with lake, crescent moon with golden pine tree, absolutely stunning. Tarp shelter looked a bit cramped. Gathering all the wood and starting the fire with the bow drill was nice...pffffffttttt.."Beauty!" Great video. Can't say enough about the beautiful scenery and videography. Beauty is so taut as the strings of a bow. Was she a rescued dog that came from an abusive home? Her whole demeanor is so sad. Please give her lots of love and be patient with her. I think Joe will find,if he hasn’t already,that poodles are very intelligent and willing to learn anything Joe wants to teach it. As for bravery, my little 4lb-11oz solid white toy poodle,backed down a 40-50 lb Bulldog,that could have probably killed it with one bite. His name was Cody Boy,and he certainly lived up to it.I had him for 17&1/2 years and have missed him every day for the 3 years he has been gone.

Glad you brought your fluffy dog Beauty along. Her breed is excellent for camping. Being half retriever and half poodle, you couldn’t pick a better camping dog. Both are excellent water dogs, both are excellent retrievers, both are excellent at warning you of danger, both are easy trainable, both are excellent with other dogs and people. I have a 34 pound mini doodle and she is a great dog. I had a Great Pyrenees for 14 years and she was a great dog too, but not like my doodle Dolly. I can take her anywhere and do everything with her and she is amazing. We love camping or going for a swim in the lake that is a 5 minute walk from home and plan to do some canoeing and paddle boating this summer. Enjoy Beauty, as she might be the best companion dog for you on your trips. Oh anD Dolly is off the lead trained too and was house trained as a pup the day I brought her home using the bell system. Went pee in the house the first afternoon and hasn’t gone since and she is 3 years old.
