They really aren't who they used to be imo. They have come a long way and made major improvements. Are they perfect? No. But for 200 bucks they make one of the best guns on the market from my experiences.

The reason for the long take up on the trigger is because of the second strike capability. It needs that distance to cock the striker on a round that didnt fire. I have fired over 2000 rounds through my G3 since October of 19. I have had nothing bad to say about it in all that time. 1 or 2 failures to feed on heavier defense loads 147 grain. But none with 115 grain or 124 grain. I feel like the value is hard to beat with this pistol!

@@johnganshow5536 I paid 420 for it! But Glock 19 was 700 dollars. I have seen numerous comparisons and it seems that the big difference between them, other than price, is Taurus’ bad reputation for mishaps before their G series, and Glocks better perceived brand. I don’t think the cost to produce these Guns is too disimilar, Glock gives you a nicer hard case, and extra mags (maybe justifying 50-75$ higher mark up right there), but other than that. I can’t see how one is that much better than the other. On the plus side I got more left over money for ammo, a proper concealed carry holster, small bulldog vault for the house (I have children) and male carry on leather bag for when going to the gym or family gatherings (and I want to put the gun somewhere safe when sitting).

@@cavewater7220 I take back what I said about Taurus. 😂 jammed on HP ammo consistently, even after sending it to the factory. Ended up buying a P320 X carry for daily carry (no issues with that), and for when I don’t want the big x carry grip printing a Glock 30 Gen 4. I still keep the Taurus, flawless with range FMJ ammo, and nice for dry fire practice because of the double strike capabilities.

Picked mine up about a month ago at local gun store. It is really a quality firearm and that comment is coming from a retired Certified Quality Engineer by the American Society for Quality. Fit, finish and all components seem to be well designed and manufactured. It came dirty right out of the box which tells me it was test fired at the factory which is a good thing. So get out your checkbook or credit card, buy some Hoppe's Gun Cleaner and learn how your weapon is made. Best place to start.

Get the G2C being that this will be your only gun..... It's more concealable, and can accept the G3 mags for more rounds at home, but you can drop down to it's standard 12 round magazine if want to carry it. The G2C is FAR from the smallest carry gun. Most people carry smaller more cancelable guns, and they all aren't "lazy." Single stacks 9mm's, Jframes, small micro .380s ACP's, subcompact G2C sized guns, etc are extremely popular this day and age for a reason.

Great firearm I bought one two months ago but the only thing I have issue with is using hollow point s in the pistol. It will not chamber all the way when I load the hollow points but when I use the bald head ammo it works great. Any suggestions???

I've never had that issue with mine. Try using different hollow points or get some more rounds through the gun to break it in. If the problem consists then call Taurus and they should take care of it for you.

I think the 4" barrel isn't all that concealable, I wish I can put the G3 trigger onto a G2c to make it a perfect gun. BTW, when this video was put up in Oct 2019, the price was lower than it is now (May 2020). It'll be a while before sellers are convinced that the Pandemic panic is over. BTW, this is great gun not only for under $250-. Everyone is comparing it to a Glock, or an S&W or any one of hundred other guns selling for $400-$600. If that isn't comparing apples to oranges, then I don't know what is. This gun is in a class by itself. It's not a trick to make a better gun for two or three times the price. The trick is making a really good gun for a third the price. TaurusUSA

Just got back from the first 250 rounds through my new G3, bought ($257 out the door at local Tombstone Tactical) last night. Super happy shocked to find that the 15 and 17 round mags are Mecgar mags. 2nd Mag hidden real well. All 250, ran flawlessly; Yes, I clean my factory new guns before first range trip. Mix of 115 grain FMJ and threw in a few 115 JHP to mix it up. Very nice shooter, excellent size, and I love the new trigger on it. They took the stuff about the G2C trigger, except the long take up, and made it better. Grip texturing is a bit aggressive for my dainty hands, but it's manageable. :D Love the dang thing, can't wait to see how well it continues to do. Newer news from Taurus, and my G2C has about 1,000 flawless rounds through it over a year, all made me want to get the G3. As many are saying, Taurus USA is really turning things around. They listened to what many said they did not like about the G2C and about Taurus itself, and they are making it all better and stronger.

There's a Cali compliant version but not a Cali made one. The Cali compliant comes with 10 rd mags only but is the same gun as any other model.

Haha. After logging 500 rounds with no malfs you can quit logging. I completely agree with you on new pistols. The first 100 to 200 rounds is typically when a failure will happen and to a lesser extent up to 500. After that its good to go. Nice to see all the extra details on the trigger and such you got in about the G3 other reviews have not. Thanks for sharing.

I used to have a real nice G2C. It was OD green and black with night sights. Extended mags. I miss that gun. It was the longest I ever had the same gun. I just bought an XDM Elite. It's too nice abd big to carry so next time I get paid, I'm going to get one of these new G3. I know they're like $300 or less. I might get a G2C if I see them. The one I had was nice and it fired everything everytime. That Taurus was one of my favorite pistols I had. Better than the P320.

@@TerriblyTactical well the g3 is an awesome gun. Ran 300 rounds through it today and of course it was kick ass. But on the down side I had my first failure on my g2c on the last round. Which marked it's 4k round. The bullet lodged in the barrel so I guess u would call it a failure to feed. But on further inspection of said bullet it looks to me that the bullet was deformed and or slightly larger than the rest of the round I have. So I'm racking that up to a bad round.

I concur with the customer service thing, I got one of the $119 spectrum from RK guns a few months ago that would not chamber a round, they had it taken care of and the gun back in my hands in exactly 3 weeks and now my spectrum is 100% reliable.

The big three gun companies are sleeping on Taurus and will get surpassed if they don't do something about their pricing. My p111, G2c cost less together than my M&P 9mm 2.0 . My G3 is a beast and out performes my Sig and 2.0 . So why is it that Taurus can build this pistol with a better mag than Smith and Sig and still beat cheaper and out shoot these high dollar pistols. I think the big three are banking on the old taurus company and let me tell you they are long gone. Taurus USA is building quality pistols

I think Taurus makes very nice looking firearms. Glock is ugly as fuck! Glock looks like a really nice version of a Hi Point. Real talk! I had four different Glocks and sold them all because of their generic look.

@@TerriblyTactical Oh, yes absolutely. Could NEVER deny that. Taurus has come so far and so fast. I think in the future (about 10 years) Glock and Taurus will be as a very close one two punch. I really don't think you could go wrong with either one right now.

I own a Taurus g2c, but I had held the Taurus g3. Man...it felt good,nice firm grip,good texture,and great size gun. I'm planning on purchasing that firearm when I get some money.

@@TerriblyTactical yeah that's what I've been seeing as far as personal opinion. I have the G2 and the Th9 which I got recently. My G2 I've had for several years. I like the feel of the G2 . Haven't decided about the Th9. I like the G2 set up better than the Th model. On my G2 I put a set of the Trueglow Tfx night sights. Love them highly aggressive and visible at night and in the day. For the price there isn't a better gun out there.

The only issue I have with mine is that on re-assembly the slide catches on the back portion making it difficult to push past it. I have to wriggle it a bit to get it to lock the slide in place

Just bought mine. OD Green. 15 and a 17rd magazine included. I bought the 32rd magazine as an add on option. Fits smooth and ejects perfect. Just found a company online (Crossbreed Holsters) they make a few custom holster options for these G3’s. Can’t wait to take the G3 to the range now.

Seems like a fairly good handgun for the money. The deal breaker for me is the trigger. If it is similar to the G2 series, I think it has the worst trigger pull in the industry except maybe High Point. I've rented and tried so many G2 pistols and tried to like them, and I do, but that trigger is a deal breaker. It's dreadful to say the least. You pull forever then hit a wall of mush. It's like shooting a Swingline Staple gun. Proing!!! Contrast this gun with a Walther Creed for about the same money. The Creed has a beautiful trigger which contributes to it's excellent accuracy. Night and day a better gun and for the same money or pretty close. Want even better, a Walther PPQ, but more money. Why consider the Taurus unless you're a bit of a masochist?

While the trigger is definitely not the best, imo it's not terrible either and once you learn it you can shoot it really well especially while shooting of the reset which is quite short and audible. I don't expect a match trigger on a 200 dollar pistol and I'm willing to work with what I've got so for someone who just needs a gun to protect themselves with and doesn't have extra money to get a "nicer trigger" then this is it

@@TerriblyTactical Again, there are excellent handguns in the $200 price range which have very good to excellent triggers. I mentioned the Walther Creed. Some of the Smith and Wessons come to mind as well. I talked to the gunsmith who works on my match pistols to ask if he could work the G2 up to a better trigger. He said the problem is the design. That design is going to have a crazy long pull. He said he could probably get rid of some of that horrible mush and grit to make it crisper, but why pay another couple of hundred to improve it? Look, I tried to like it so I could advise it to my students, and if it were the only choice in that price point, I would, but it's not. I'm not one of these anti Taurus trolls. I've owned some Taurus handguns for years, especially revolvers. I think their 1911 is a great choice. I just choose not to have to train around a bad trigger when I don't have to. The Walther Creed 9mm with a Tenifer coating, made in Germany including a superb trigger sells for $250 street. Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9mm Full-Sized 16-Round Pistol, around $259 street. Not the best trigger, but all day long better than a Taurus. That's just two that come to mind.

Warranty is now limited warranty same it use to be lifetime, at least you get three magazines not two and orange unloaded chamber indicator flag which didn't come with me New M&P 2.0 Compact which came with two magazines, four changeable back straps and tool, two magazine spacers for full size magazines and a limited lifetime warranty. Hate the cardboard box, but you know the old saying ? Paying more for less, like the M&P 2.0 Compact but the Taurus G3 is the better bargain. Taurus has only S&W to thank, they showed their Taurus how to make a firearm, how stupid was that ! Have three Taurus nickle plated 38 special revolvers from the 1970's they are garbage. Past issues I had with Taurus ? Waiting for my firearm to be repair, they kept saying they had issues getting parts from Brazil, true or not ? Was irritating and why I'm reluctant to buy another Taurus. My factory trigger pull average on my New M&P 2.0 Compact I purchased on 7/24 is 4.9 lbs.
