1:13:20 Yeah I do agree with Fehology here, you need to be strong in both: support AND combat to be a top tier supportive unit, but I also get where Oblivion is coming from: if your support is busted enough like say BCatria or LEliwood you don't NEED to be busted combat wise, this is part of the reason I like to listen to this potcast, there's not an absolute answer about the meta and this type of respectful back and forth is really refreshing, keep up the good work guys!

As you can see I’m a fan of Soren and I am glad that He won his spot. Clearly the general consensus was he was more popular than Felix. Plus Felix got a version that is very good and Soren barely has one at best with the most recent one. He needed this lol

Technically we do have certain ways to "nerf" unity like Sabotage and Mark in general, but yeah that would be interesting!

​@DTMFEH I use Mark on ARD for that reason and it works, but its not a counter to unity. It works way better on units that don't unity stack. Sure, you might triple their debuffs (i.e. giving them an extra -12), but with 2 layers of unity they're gaining 24. Units with a dominance effect can wreck unity stacking units though

I've played Soren's games and he's not a terrible person, he has a lot of shit he needs worked out. He gets better eventually, but man, Soren needs so much therapy. If you know his lore, you shouldn't hate on him so much. I'll never understand people who dislike him while loving Felix who doesn't even go through as much shit as Soren does while acting the same way.

I've played both PoR and RoD as well and while understand why he has fans, Soren is just very unlikable to me. Like yeah sad backstory and all of that but it doesn't excuse anything, especially when Soren literally wanted to give over Elincia to Daein and in general just is such at odds with the group. Obviously I can't speak to the other members in the podcast, but I personally don't like Felix either. I do think I would have preferred him over Soren (though honestly I'd would like another option to win).

@@DTMFEH In defense of Soren, he only thinks about rational decisions that benefit them in the long term. He likely calculated low odds of winning a fight and decided it would be the smartest decision. I honestly can't say I wouldn't think the same and that's with Elincia being one of my other all time faves. I can understand why people wouldn't like him but I also will never blame a character for thinking the way he does. It was life or death and they had a decision to make. In the end, super glad they helped her. Soren's a bitch but he's my favorite bitch. 😂

Soren and Felix are very different characters. They may both be have "grumpy" personalities, but they couldn't be more different otherwise.

One extremely notable thing about Tea Ayra’s harmonic skill is that she can also cleanse penalties from B!Seliph, basically stopping him from getting stalled! I’m using him right next to Karla on my new congaline and I’m having a blast with those two. What B!Seliph can’t outspeed, Karla deals with with ease (she gets close to 100 Spd) and it’s my favorite partnership ever!

Super excited for Brave Corrin and Gullveig, I want to cosplay both if they get good designs but especially Gullveig. So I'm keeping my eyes peeled! Would be interesting if Gatekeeper got an anti unity or something like that since those are so prevalent these days and often go hand and hand with warping skills. Also I would find it absolutely hilarious if Plumeria got Firestorm dance or Guidance 4 in her remix after so many people put those skills on her lmao. As always though, thank you for these, they're always a very fun and informative listen (Joel was throwing shade this time lmao what happened!?! ahaha). I look forward to the CYL edition!

I’ve been running my Gatekeeper in Anima season as an infantry pulse support unit and my anima defense usually gets 1 to no losses in the vault each season. I have no save units and I also only have 1 ranged nuke which is my AoE Arval who comes in via Wings of Mercy on one of my two melee cavs (I don’t have Freyr either so I’ve been res stacking). Depending on Gatekeeper’s refine my defense will either get much better or much worse if others start using him since my cavs overextend/frontline so far. Since I have no saviors I rely on the massive threat distance to make setting up harder and my 2 cav units are bulky enough that they are hard to Galeforce on unless bolt tower goes off. I am both super excited and worried about Gatekeeper’s refine since he’s one of my favorite characters for some reason. I think he is already a good unit as is but he could become super meta which I don’t want to see. He just needs a nice little upgrade and I’m happy. (Also Earth season is rough for my dark defense since Gotoh exists, but my Anima defense works just as good since AoE effects are an amazing counter to unity. It lowers pre-combat speed which negates a lot of the AoE damage reduction against my Arval and on the res side it gets rid of all of it against Tiki/Dragon Wall.)

I also want more Fighter skills as seals. When I was building her, I had dismissed the idea of putting a Far Save skill on Valentine's Lissa, since she needs Poetic Justice in her B slot to have good damage and I think Save skills work best with Fighter skills, but between the prospect of Fighter skill seals and these new Tier 4 Boost skills to give her a way to inflict Guard, if they gave us an enemy-phase Fighter skill as a seal, then I could go for a Far Save skill for Lissa and get Earthwater Boost 3 once that's out, and have a functioning Far Save Valentine's Lissa.

I feel like y'all were talking about Marianne's special a bunch. That isn't changing, they have never changed the unique skills of CYL units. Her weapon is what they're changing. Removing the once per turn condition or the gravity from her special isn't gonna happen. Having effects like slaying or null guard would definitely be beneficial though.

well think about it they give fliers free rein - but they get the crappiest skills outside of the movement. can't use flashing skills, a good chunk of B skills can't work for them(esp if you are ranged)

Freyja's refine and remix are so infuriating to talk about because a weirdly large amount of people defend it. Mines +5 and my highest merged light mythic and I was not expecting anything. She got more then I thought but she really needed to remove DC from her weapon and become either a full galeforcer with WOM built into her weapon or give her support. Also Echidnas been fantastic. I really expected nothing and instead she became a really great axe infantry. I used her to max out TT and she didn't die once which I know isnt saying much but its still really nice. I really like the godlike reflex build on her since it makes her really annoying to fight. Freyr is really annoying but the best counter I found is turn 3 Heidr. I really wish Heidr was talked about more since she straight up counters a majority of far savers and allows for easy hit and runs. If you are well and truly bricked you can fall back to Brave attacks on turn 4.
