Ha! Yes this was really bugging me too! So was really happy when I found this solution and just had to share it!

We have the new format enabled and I agree that it is better than the Streams option. By the way, I always select the Open in SharePoint option from within teams because it opens as a standard browser and you can open multiple files as different tabs so it's the same as a normal browser experience. I do have a couple of questions about Teams though. 1. Is it possible to set a meeting/class to record by default? Many teachers, myself included, often forget to start the recording. 2. Is it possible to download the meeting attendance .csv AFTER the meeting has finished? Or have a log file of users joining/leaving the meeting. 3. Is it possible to download a file (csv/xls perhaps) with details of group/class membership. Thanks in advance Noel

Hey Noelf - 1) Not currently, but this is a popular request and something I believe Microsoft are working on, so hopefully it's added soon. 2) Nope. But if you are EDU, you have access to the insights add-in which does a much better job of tracking students activity. Just add the insights tab to your group, tap "track student activity", set the date range you're interested in and you can either view attendance within teams, or press the 3 dots top right and export to excel. 3. The excel file generated will also give you the class list

Great video - very clear! Do you know if it's possible to prevent people downloading the video? A download button seems to appear even if you have set access to 'Can View'.
@MrTompkins3 жыл бұрын
where are you seeing the download button? If its on the video thumbnail in the posts section, then most likely "save to sharepoint" is not yet enabled.

@@MrTompkins Sharepoint is enabled. Lets say a meeting has been recorded for a class and now appears in a channel. Student clicks on the recording and the video opens in a new tab in their browser - a Download button is appearing on the top left of the screen, alongside Share, Copy Link etc...

@@niamhl3942 Ok, I did some digging and it does seem that "download" is part of the usual list of things you can do with sharepoint files you have view rights to them. You could try editing these permissions though if you dont mind digging further into sharepoint. This may help: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_sharepoint-mso_win10-mso_o365b/how-to-prevent-file-download-in-sharepoint/f885092d-e36a-42c2-a9a9-d71900c92621

@@MrTompkins Perfect - I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something! Hoping they may add some functionality to prevent this option. Also have noticed the default permissions seem to allow students to Delete the video file, unless you change the SharePoint permissions to 'Can View' instead of 'Can Edit'. Bit of a pain to have to edit the permissions for each one - but then I might just be lazy :-) Thanks for your help on this.

what do u use to get the circle around your cursor?? I don't think u used it in this video but I know you did in the one about viewing assignment a few months ago.
@MrTompkins3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael - it's actually a feature of the video capture software I'm using, called Camtasia. It's not actually there when I record, it's added to the video as an effect later. If you are looking to make your cursor more pronounced for things like live lessons, you can do this in settings->ease of access->mouse pointer. You can change the size and colour to make it really stand out.

Im a student using teams and I need help with how to add all my right classes to my calendar because my school kept changing my classes so I had old classes on my calendar I no longer was in so I deleted all the old classes but dont know how to add my current classes to the calendar
@MrTompkins3 жыл бұрын
Normally, the school adds you to the right groups and then your calendar automatically pick up the events for those classes. Check with your teachers if you are not in the right groups!
