He's back! Great laptime especially for the current state of the track in terms of grip. Set a high 54.3 on the junior Grid Series race but that'll come down soon, had never raced electric before and hit about 4 apexes all night 😂
@BradJonesGoKarting Жыл бұрын
Yes! I reckon I could do a 51 easily with some tow now. I struggled to hit apexes also and then I changed my driving style
@JGKarting Жыл бұрын
@@BradJonesGoKarting Yeah the main problem corner for me was the OG hairpin just before the down ramp. Track not rubbered in and karts a lot heavier so my usual braking point wasn't the one. It'll be mega quick once everything's up to grip again

@@JGKarting my video tomorrow will explain what I think the lap times will be like. I think low 50s, high 49s by BIKC

I've noticed that with the new electric karts the timer seems to break so often. My track (Clydebank) got "new" electric karts that turned out to be 6 years old from Farnborough. I'm second fastest ever in a public session but I'm 16th on the leaderboard from unreal times or real-ish times from slow drivers and the guys there need to keep updating it.

I’ve found these E karts really struggle for grip especially when braking. A hell of a lot of braking shimmy unlike the old petrol karts. TeamSport Nottinghams track has remained the same since the switch but the lap times are down by about 2 seconds compared to the petrol karts. They’ve also removed the boost buttons now.

Nice Video! It's sad to see the petrol karts go from Warrington, and same will go for probably the rest of the tracks 😕. I've never tried the electric karts though and I'm not sure how different they are to the petrol karts, Also the track seems to be noticeably shorter since your getting 52 sec laps but i can't see where they shortened it?
@BradJonesGoKarting Жыл бұрын
They removed turn 7, 8 and 9! Also, these just have instant power. So no need to rely on your kart being able to smoothly rev up

How did you find the braking compared to petrol ones? I tried electric ones in the US a few weeks ago and hated them. We still have petrol ones at my local track (Leicester) and hope it stays like this for a few years 🤣
@rjarookie4654 Жыл бұрын
Braking is the biggest difference I've found between petrol and electric karts. I'm used to them now but having just done BIKC regionals in petrol going back to electric brakes is annoying. Aside from that though I much prefer electric karts, it's much more even between weight classes. I'm much more competitive being a 90kg driver than I was in petrol karts.
@BradJonesGoKarting Жыл бұрын
I have a video coming out tomorrow and I talk about how the brakes work there! All tracks will be fully electric before 2025 also. That’s just what the government guidelines are wanting 🥲

Id suggest slow in and out fast! You can basically stop dead with these karts now and still accelerate faster than ever before

@@rjarookie4654 it’s the torque of the electric karts. The main reason the heavies were a lot slower was because their exit speeds lacked. Now they’re pretty similar

@@BradJonesGoKarting Still slower going up ramps especially after a slow corner like the hairpin at notts and at Sheffield. Warrington doesn't seem like it has many slow corners now.
