New Testament - Week 49 - The Advent of Hope/The Purpose of Prophecy - Sermon

The primary reason to tell someone what is going to happen is so that they can be prepared and the primary reason that God gave us prophecy is so that we would be prepared. Part of what we have to remember as we begin our study in the book of Revelation, is that God gave us this so that our lives will be affected. It's not just so that we could have information, it's so that we can renew our passion to be more prepared by the way that we live our lives, spend our time, invest our money, and commit our hearts. The purpose of prophecy is to help us avoid wrath and enjoy blessings. It is to help us not miss the grace of God in Jesus, the Messiah, and spend eternity in torment.
