Just started to focus more on reaction baits and def needed this. Won a handful of shadow raps and jigging wrap magnums in a tournament and have been tying them on as much as possible. I’m taking notes on cadence here, thanks.

Thanks for posting these. We’ve got a decent saugeye fishery nearby, and you’ve helped me find and catch more fish. Also, you’ve stepped up your editing game, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Thank you sir!

If you’re not changing and learning in 2024 with all this new technology then your left stuck in the past. I watch guys on the water everyday so I can get better although I only fish my days off year round. Between fishing, hunting, and duck calling year round watching successful guys drives me to put walleyes in my boat

I agree! Learning is the most rewarding part.

The boat is hitched up in the yard but when the time comes to go, its been windy and wet without enough time for that water to settle back out. Hot weather coming next week. Hopefully the middle part of the lake gets good, else its more bass fishing. These flooded bays this year are fun.

Flooded bays eh? For just bass or?

@@BloemendaalFishing Mostly smallmouth but occasional catfish, white bass, and pike. Its rare but Ive seen walleye in those backwaters too.

I’ve certainly seen it in the past, not as much this year yet

I like going in there with finesse baits, topwaters if calm enough and casting against all that cover, sometimes sight fishing. Even fly fishing it occasionally. Usually able to come out with a variety of nice fish.

You need a clothing sponsor. Give Simms or Blackfish a call.

Hi Brett. Can you help a fellow Brett out? I’m pretty green with jigging raps…when? (Time of year? Weather pattern) and where? (Depth, structure?) do I want to try them? Thanks!
@BloemendaalFishingАй бұрын
The fall is best for me, but late summer and sometimes mid summer can be good too. I like them concentrated somewhere on a shelf, point or hump, but I’ve also done well with them casting shallow flats if there are enough around and they’re willing to take. Best place to start and learn, though, is probably vertical in 20-30 feet where you can stay on a school of fish.
@bobosterday33502 ай бұрын
Are you using a swivel?
@BloemendaalFishing2 ай бұрын
I just use a snap, no swivel. With braid not having memory and the heavy leader line preventing fouled hooks on the lure, I don't see a need for a swivel.

Yeah, if I’m stuck in snap jigging, I try all sorts. Hasn’t had much luck with shivers in the past so just haven’t kept many around, but I know they work for other people.

I’ve had far better luck with Shiver minnows. Rippin’ em and letting them fall on slack line. I appreciate your insight and for you being open and sharing techniques. Thanks
