What a beautiful building. I hope they were able to restore the façade to its original look and I hope everyone who lost their homes had them restored to them and ten fold. Thank you FDNY and John!
@MusicLoverPearson8 күн бұрын
Knowing NYC and the landlord who owns that building they'll restore the apartments but the tenants who live there won't because the landlord will charge higher rent than what the tenants were paying before?

In case anyone was thinking about how long does it take to shoot water from the outside, you can't, if any firefighters are in that room when you hit it. there would be alot of burns due to steam. Just an FYI....,great film as always
@jonathanlloyd18248 күн бұрын
I completely agree with you. However....... This fire was a great example where a "transitional" attack could have easily been performed. Quickly cool down the fire room(s) from the exterior, then transition to an interior attack. This allows for cooling of combustion gasses, and reduces secondary spread. This also allows for a safer environment for interior crews. The fire was self venting, and with targeted PPV, visibility should not be negatively impaired. NOTE: my comment is based solely on what I can see from the video, as well as information garnered from the comms.

The Life savers series from I think channel 5 was probably one of the best. My career was from 1985-2018 and we saw a lot of fire. Including covering 241-109 on 9-11/12

Notice all the parked cars cluttering up the fireground. I remain surprised that these major-city departments do not immediately dispatch a fleet of tow trucks to clear those cars out. Were there no curbside cars, a truck with a deck gun could have rolled in and swatted the second floor. Selfish and arrogant of people to confiscate public roadways for their own private parking garage.
@davidbott94019 күн бұрын
Where do you want these people to park? It's a city, not a lot of parking. People have to park where they can
@idontgiveaship25757 күн бұрын
Yea right, dispatch a bunch of tow trucks, the fire dept will wait around the corner for the tow trucks to make some space.
@THEMAJESTIRIUM17 күн бұрын
THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE....PLUS THOSE ARE LEGAL PARKING SPOTS.....THANKS SO MUCH.....
@skipd91647 күн бұрын
You cannot tow someone's car because of a fire unless it is deamed hazard. The problem is they have never towed in the past. It sounds crazy but people go after tow company's all the time and there are legal reasons to protect people's property. Look at snowstorms and how people need notice before towing. If you tow to relocate then people Will claim damage trying to get something fixed for free. Same thing with cutting electric, phone, or cable wires. Many times you see the wires going from pole to pole and think just cut them. Even fire departments or city can be held liable for damage and repair cost for any lost while service is interrupted. I'm talking wires that are in the way and have no damage.
