It's highly unlikely you'll ever have any issues since this jailbreak only brings back features TI calculators already had. The only issue you could potentially encounter is some strange incompatibility that causes a RAM clear. However, if you use Cesium and it's backup features, it eliminates the worries about data loss. Even in the worst case scenario your calculator is still easily fixable.

@@TheLastMillennial They already did it on monochrome z80 calculators, but only on the TI-82 Advanced (the TI-84 Plus successor in France) and the TI-84 Plus-T (the TI-84 Plus successor in Europe) for now. I'd not be surprised if next year they released the TI-84 Plus-T here too.

5.4 is perfectly fine to run if you don't care about writing ASM on your calculator. I prefer 5.3 since I often use that feature and I love knowing there's fewer restrictions on what I can program.

@@TheLastMillennial I just asked the same question. Didn’t know it was already posted. I don’t know what ASM really is atm, so I’ll have to look into it. I’m not in school or anything, I stopped using school math after high school decades ago except for doing my associates I had 1 math class (I majored in art). I like to try to get back into math to see if I can actually apply it to the real world, right now doing carpentry/woodworking. I read another comment recently, something about ASM and Asm that are two different things? Am I correct?

Going to OS 5.3.0 gives you access to the Asm84CEPrgm token which lets you program short Assembly programs directly on the calculator like dark mode, lowercase letters, or even an 'overclock'.

I don't recommend you downgrade. Once there's a jailbreak you'll get both Python and ASM.

Mainly program compatibility. 5.3.0 is the most compatible OS for basic and assembly programs. 5.4.0 is fine to use if you don't care about programming though.

I have 5.0.1 on my calculator and it is very slow with the graphing or in general for that matter. I don't do any programming on my calculator. Is it worth upgrading?

It wouldn't be worth it to upgrade past OS 5.2.1 ( ti-pla.net/a677709 ). If graphing already feels slow to you, it'll only get slower if you update to OS 5.3.0 or higher. I benchmarked each OS and documented it here: www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=289332#289332 There are ways to significantly speed up graphing. Press [2nd]>[zoom] then scroll down to 'detect asymptotes' and turn that off. That will make graphing a lot faster. You can also install a program I put together that will make the whole calculator faster. All you need is the program: ceme.tech/DL1755 and the C libraries: tiny.cc/clibs that will make the whole calculator about 30% faster which makes it feel way more responsive. Not really. The Artifice jailbreak is still required to run programs. TI has really only focused on new Python features.
