The Tie Defender Elite = Both the empire's and Thrawn's pride and joy of a star fighter masterpiece... if only they were able to use it to its fullest potential before Yavin 4 = Vader using the Tie Defender Elite as his main fighter instead of the Tie Advanced X1 would've wiped the floor with the rebels, and Luke being long dead before they could ever reach the death star's weak point! Now onto Lore Guy please anyone who can contact him: What if the empire mass produced Thrawn's Tie Defender Elite Star Fighter program? = before Yavin 4. What if the Rebellion stole and used Thrawn's Tie Defender Elite star fighters against the empire? What if the Republic had and used Thrawn's Tie Defender Elite throughout the clone wars? What if the Separatists had and used Thrawn's Tie Defender Elite during the clone wars? What if the First + Final Orders used Thrawn's Tie Defender Elite star fighter? What if the Resistance used Thrawn's Tie Defender Elite against the first + final orders?

Good to know this ship is being praised for the shielding. Motive seemed to have nailed one of this ships biggest strengths in giving the feeling of having capital grade shielding even though in-game, without proper power management, it doesn't. True to lore while also fairly balanced for gameplay. Magnificent.

Yeah, the shields are pretty good, but not the most powerful. It's the power and damage output that makes this ship very good if someone knows how to fly it. It's speed and agility are also decent.

I just pulled at 19/4 TIE defender game. This ships potential is insane in the right hands. I posted this as a response to someone else, but if your looking to be a better TIE defender pilot, here are some tips: What’s nice about this ship is it’s Advanced Power System and EXTREMELY fast overcharge rates. If your full power isn’t on engines it does feel rather sluggish. However, with the rate at which the boost charges, you can drift constantly and keep that mobility up. Pair that with the APS and you can keep your shields and guns overloaded as well. In other words, to be proficient at this ship, you need to have advanced power management skills. Playing as the A-wing is a great way to practice these skills, as it requires a similar fineness, albeit much less demanding. Another huge benefit of this ship are its shields. Even though they aren’t the best in the game, they can soak up a considerable amount of fire before needing to be regenerated. Thanks to this ships design, those shields can be quickly regenerated by using the APS or diverting power to shields while boosting/drifting evasively. I hope I was able to help :)

Yeah but they're allergic to ion weapons so they're not hard to counter It is kind of awesome having an imperial ship with shields because until now Rebels had no need for ion weapons really. And no one is usually going to bring them because mostly vs imperials it's all hull damage

In Empire at War Forces of Corruption, one time I used nothing but TIE Defenders to overpower a Rebel space station (level 5) and a Mon Calamari capital ships. They have ion cannons and torpedo launchers and their special ability was maximum firepower which it can fire their weapons in high rate.

More like the X-Wing is the closest the Rebels got to this. The TIE Defender and especially the TIE Defender Elite kicked the crap out of X-Wings and if the Empire had focused on the Defender project instead of the Death Star they would've won the war

I tried it out and it's difficult to get a grip even. Feels too slow and turns like a barn unless you drift. Probably one of this hard to learn but once masteres you can pull stuff like this off

This fighter would have made all the training tie fighter pilots get actually worth it I was running a high speed and manoeuvrability tie fighter build which allowed me to avoid enemies in battle easily dodging blaster fire at the cost of hull strength but when moving other to the tie defender the extra shielding has made me practically invincible I pull easy 10 kills 1 death games now consistently running the same parts as on my old tie fighter on it

@@HarrisonJames In terms of manoeuvrability, I think the defender is actually better. The tie Interceptor may be faster, but the defender has shields, insane manoeuvrability and better firepower, so I actually think the TIE Defender is better.

Biggest weaknesses of defender is speed and hull. Players can outrun you and once you lose your shields you die quick. Easiest way to deal with them is a fast a wing with ion missiles

It’s a lot more cost-effective using anti-starfighter Corvettes instead of starfighters themselves because; Tie Defenders are nasty things If you’re going to try to use starfighters to counter such a vessel you better bring five times as many ships because you’re going to lose about four times as much to destroy a single Tie Defender squadron

Tie Defender is Kinda More of a glass cannon, it's very powerful in the right hands, and will shred players. The only thing you have to really be good at is power management. I recommend using burst cannons if you have good aim, if you don't have it, standard lasers are fine. Use Deflector hull for more health, or if you want more maneuverability use agile hull, they are both better than standard since you won't survive long without them. For shield I recommend fortified deflector, the others are fine as well (Never use Nimble Deflector For the Defender). The default Left Auxiliary is great, just learn how to use it, you can use whatever you like for Right Auxiliary. Any engine runs fine, Hope this helped

It was very op in star wars, but for balancing reasons the game developers made it kind of a glass cannon in Squadrons. Still my personal favorite ship in the game

It was never about the hull as much as the shields. APS makes so that you could essentially regen shields almost as quickly as you lose them.

Well you shouldn't use it as a TIE Defender, because of balancing. It's more like an X-wing with less health, more shields. Use th advanced power system with care, more often than not to replenish shields.

Watching gameplay is so weird. It seems no one is able to aim, keep sights on an enemy for more than one or two passes. The flight controls are so sloppy much of the game is just getting to the point where the auto-aim kicks in. I refunded my purchase after seeing how bad the drift was from when I stopped holding "up" to when my ship stopped moving. Skyrogue came out last year with tight responsive stick controls, but lacks the budget and presentation of SW.
