It's because of the load chart note requiring crane to be derated for duty cycle operations. I explain this starting at about the 4:15 mark in the video. We have to derate the crane by 20 percent (.2) when swinging a concrete bucket (duty cycle). 1.0 - .2 = .8. If the cranes gross capacity (from chart or line pull) is 6,000 lbs, we derate by multiplying 6,000 by .8. The crane's capacity during duty cycle operations (concrete bucket in this case) equals 6,000 x .8 = 4,800 lbs. If the manufacturer required a 25% (.25) derating we would multiply our gross capacity by .75.
