Hey NJ, I would recommend having more buttons and using the composite connection on the electric connectors so you can control the cart at the back whilst in the locomotive.

I have a suggestion. what if you put a small/medium electric motor on the freight cars to power the train wheels and send a signal to them using a composite to activate the wheels of the cars. This could improve performance and will probably let you move more cargo. Maybe you could also add some extinguishers on every one of the cars. I mean, it's just a suggestion. Nice train btw

Guess it depends if you're talking about the ones that can be used the most frequently (e.g. throttle governor) or the ones that are extremely needed cuz you can't do stuff otherwise (e. g. map screens). Or do you mean the default logic gates like the And, Or, Add, Multiply, Threshold, etc?
