I love this beast. Great insight as usual. I have blown out two drive cups with rocks getting in. The design provides lots of space between the body and the chassis for debris to funnel in at the front tires. I have slid a piece of galvanized 1/2" welded wire (3" x 3"), vertically, into the chassis. Just in front of the motor and servo. It has helped keep the large rocks from getting under the body at the front. Thanks for the upload.

great detailed tear down.. I love watching people tear down there rc,s. especially rc,s I don't own. always something to learn... ps. I keep servo extention kits on hand. the metal plugs male and female plus the plastic parts they go in..so you can make custom extentions and splitters to run extra lights and or fans. always comes in handy. favorite part of the hobby for me. I own a solder guy like rc guy garage. mines a radio shack version. some day I'll buy a nice solder gun. but the big lug gets hot fast and works great. lol

i now routinely checking all screws etc out of the box, i didn't do this with the Outcast 8S roller. After installing the guts and takin' it out for a rip.... send style, i realized quickly that two of the shock tower screws which secure into the rear bulkhead were casper. ghosted. i know i didn't mess with them, but i should have cause i didn't even see screw marks on the holes, Also, poercussive maintenance has been around for centuries, i know i use it, sometimes even when i don't need to.

Nice video Earl. That is the first teardown video that I've seen. Glad everything seems to be holding up. 😊 I like the looks of all the extra bracing this truck has. But it doesn't leave wiggle room for ppl to customize it. At least not without a lot of extra work going into it. I don't have one. That's based on what I've seen and heard so far. At least it's a solid truck stock.

I’ll see if you vulnerabilities in the design as he mentioned parts were stones can get stuck and what not but I think it’s reasonable enough if you maintain it. Traxxas warranty and customer service is the reason I build cars like I do from the ground up, and also made me quit the hobby. Not only have they never warrantied anything from me from servos, aluminum shock caps that were broken out of the box, motors, esc’s, etc. I also think they are trained to say, “well I have that car and I have never had that problem”. I build my cars from the ground up now, using as little OEM pars as possible. I will not have a sledge until M2C, Vitavon, RPM, and Scorched come to the rescue.

I hope somebody makes a custom diff housing so I can use the Sledge diffs in the front and rear of my Kraton. I've got my shim game up and I made custom tool steel pins for holding the large gears onto the drive cup shafts so I rarely break, however the Sledge appears to use similar if not the same front and rear diffs as the E-Revo v2 and those are so much stronger than the Arrma 6S line's.

Yeah, it does look like a pretty great RC overall, but gosh… that high, premium price, and no real warrant coverage makes it feel like they don’t want people like me buying their stuff. They only want people who are rich enough for $800 to be pocket change. People like me need to save up for something like this, and if I were to save up and buy it then find out something like the esc or motor was bad, well, that’d be disappointing. Feels like an expensive kit build would be better to save up for, even if the gratification is delayed. Sorry, Traxxas, people like me want to buy from companies that stand behind their work. If you don’t have enough confidence in your own work to stand behind, then I don’t have the confidence to buy from you. I’ll either buy from a company that does have that confidence, or I’ll build it myself, even if it means missing out on the latest fad.
