Thanks as always... couple of interesting hands..... would have thought most capable pairs would have played the 1st in 6s/6n

Stefan's 4N bid was bizarre. 9 points opposite 25+ (in his view) is an almost certain small slam make, and has grand interest.

After the 2NT showing 24+, maybe an old-fashioned 5NT, forcing to 6 and invitational to 7, was a good call. On the second hand... well, 6H got what it deserved. Why not X or 4D leaping Michaels (if forcing)? Perhaps 4D-4H; 5S exclusion-6C showing one; 6D asking for help there-7H.

Is it so clear that 5S in that sequence would be exclusion? What would North bid with Spades and Diamonds and extras after making a Leaping Michaels bid?

My thoughts exactly on the 1st hand. 2nt - 5n - 6n.... or as 2nt was 25 plus (as far as S concerned) just 6nt.

Leaping Michaels over a multi would be a pretty unusual agreement - which is the second suit it's supposed to show?

@@sashacooper9326 4 of a minor would show that minor and one of the majors - granted it's difficult to sort out afterwards though and I don't think 4D-4H-5S would be exclusion when you haven't sorted out which suit the 4D bidder has yet (4H has to be pass/correct)! I think I'd double first and then jump to 6H later, maybe partner can work out that the ace of clubs is enough to raise to 7

@@shostrock I would go so far as to say it's impossible to sort out, esp over 4D. If 4h is supposed to be pass or correct, what does advancer do with long hearts? Or with some everyday shape like 4135 and no idea whether you have a major suit fit?
