Just FYI: it's not the Insta360 camera that 'removes' the stick (2:25). The stick is simply in a blind spot of the camera, so this 'invisible' selfiestick will work (and be 'invisible' for) with any 360 camera.

Thanks for that review. The other big problem with the cheaper stick (which I have) is the sound transferrence through the selfie stick, which gets picked up by the microphone (lots of extraneous noises). I imagine that the new selfie stick wouldn't have that problem because the segments would not rattle so much

Oh that's interesting! I haven't encountered that problem because I rarely ever use the sound from my 360 cams especially when they're on a selfie stick like this. That would be an interesting thing to experiment and find out.

I have the rattling sound issue on a fully extended new insta360 10ft (3m) selfie stick. When fully extended the smallest segments are moving/rattling. If it is only partly extended they are not moving.

You are able to extend and secure the cheaper thinner one. Just pull the foam stopper past the threading and slide it down to the first and or second extensions and slide it firmly in place.

My thinner one is a knock off but costs about 20 usd and locks at any length just by twisting it counterclockwise. The one you are showing is a beast. I thought it was going to have all kinds of hidden goodies like battery and lead to keep power to the camera and an internal microphone adapter with a jack in the handle to let you wire a microphone to your camera... now THAT might be worth 100 bucks!!!

It doesn’t open but there are vents on the bottom that allow air to flow in and out of the inside of selfie stick. you should be able to clean out the salt water buy extending and collapsing it in clean water

No, only the 360 cameras do like the One X2 and the One R. The GO 2 would work on the end of the selfie stick looking to the side like I did in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpKynp-dlNpjqNk But it's not going to get rid of the selfie stick if you were to point it looking back towards you

I just received one of the "new and improved" Insta360 sticks (that you review here) and it is a loose, saggy , wobble monster. Perhaps your copy is tighter and sturdier than mine but I am very disappointed for this much $$$. My longer when retracted Telesin Version 2 that this one replaced is tighter and more sag resistant but with the problems you mention here. I believe I will be returning the Insta360 POS and just live with the limitations of the Telesin model. What is your opinion of the 270Pro product line?

There have been all singing, all dancing camera poles in the past, which claim and are advertised as being "no bend". But then in reality it bends, some even bend beyond the stitching capabilities of the camera. I like the "stop anywhere feature" of this pole, would be great to see if some snow, or some light rain has an effect on this 😁

you can extend the cheap one on middle length. you just have to push down the rubber from the tip to the base of the stick. i carry it every time i fly my fpv drone for emergency in case my drone decides to perch on a tree. i just have to poke it down.

I tried combining it with the regular selfie stick, it was wobbling a bit, I didn't put the camera on it while they were combined. The instruction card said that the extended selfie stick can't be used with bullet time handle or with the all purpose tripod. Hope this info helps someone :)

Great news. I use the original version all the time but not being able to lock it open at a certain length was annoying. The new one seems like a real improvement. One point, however. You can actually lock it open in intermediate steps to some extent by pulling open an individual joint but not necessarily all of them. The head pivots annoyingly but that's not always a problem with a 360 camera like the X1. Thanks

I own the original older stick from Insta and Paid around 70 €. Now there is this new version, only 30 € more expensive. The biggest problem with the old version is its length - it doesn’t fit to any bag or backpack you always have to carry this long stick separately. But Luke, the information about the „total collapsed or total extended“ stick is not absolutely correct. With this foam plug at the end you are able to fix the third element of the stick to the handle -at any point of this third part. So indeed you can fasten it at 120-160 cm length.

Sory I should have clarifed in the video that only the 360 camer from insta360 do the invisible selfie stick thing. It is a future that only 360 cameras are capable of. So the Go2 can't do that.

Good review man, Glad I found this video! I have the same ~$30 Amazon stick you talked about in this video, and have the same "issues" with it as you describe: 1.) Does not collapse down compact enough; 2.) it's "it's all or nothing" with regards to the extension; and *MOST IMPORTANTLY* 3.) it flexes a *LOT* when extended, making the shot wobbly (and often unusable). Would you say that this new Insta360 brand stick is rigid enough to use on a mountain bike, fully or partially extended, while riding over bumpy terrain, and still get good, stable footage?

Thanks for another great review, Luke! I always watch your videos as soon as I see them. Right now I use a Velbon Ultra Stick Super 8 Monopod because it is super sturdy and very quick and compact. But since the new Insta360 stick can lock into any length, do you think it could be used as a monopod for a camera that is about 2 lbs?

By the way, I wouldn't be trying to hold a 2 lb camera out at 10'. But if I could use it as an upright 5'-6' monopod at times for my FZ2500 and then use it as a 10' stick for an action camera, that would be the best of both worlds!

I just tried sticking my Canon 6D Mark II on here, which should be right around 2 lb, I extended it out to 6 feet vertically and it held the camera up just fine but anything beyond that would just collapse under the weight. I probably wouldn't recommend buying it specifically for that purpose considering that it would collapse with any extra weight added.

I thought it is like other sticks that twist one way to loosen the segments and adjust the length, and then twist them the other way to tighten and lock the length. But what you are describing is more like telescoping tension.

This seems a little like the "tripod upgrade path", where you buy an "adequate" tripod just to find it doesn't work for you and then upgrade over and over until you arrive at the place you should have started at. Good quality IS economy and will last forever and not let you down . However , this approach does need to be adjusted to individual circumstances and resources as applicable.

Not very good. Using mine the stick was not rigid. The result was the stick could be seen in the video.
