Great vid thx 👍 I can’t stand when people think printing flaws are variations which de-value them - not increase the value. U or someone should do a video of reported error boxes. When I was a kid I pulled 33 Michael Jordan SP’s out of one box of ‘91 Upper Deck baseball (bought at Price Club). I’d love to see a video compiling other error/juiced boxes….

Not a variation, more like a host of print defects🥱
@Hungryman97sCollectiblesАй бұрын
@topps85401 this is the comment I was waiting for. So if they made thousands of these cards with the EXACT same defects, that wouldn't be a variation?
@topps85401Ай бұрын
no it would be an entire print run defect. The print defects were unintentional. Not an error or variation in the slightest. I’m a player collector of Bonds and would never imagine distinguishing those print defects as a unique card. Moreover I do consider copyright variations unique so my requirements are loose by player collector standards.
@Hungryman97sCollectiblesАй бұрын
@@topps85401 I don't believe our definition of variation is the same. The 1967 Topps Ed Spiezio #128 missing letter card is worth a ton of money. It's rare, but confirmed. Although definitely NOT intentional, I would call it a variation. The black streak Bonds is not some card I found spots on and am trying to pass it off as valuable (as many on ebay do). If you would call the Spiezio card a print defect, then maybe you and I can agree on principle, but not the term. Thnx
@topps85401Ай бұрын
@@Hungryman97sCollectibles debris and or dust on a printing plate causing printing defects such as fish eyes, marks or lines do not make for a variation. The card featured in your video was part of a print run that had plates with these characteristics causing the black mark and fish eyes. Im not familiar with the 1967 card you used to compare but it sounds like it was an error not printing defect if a letter was missing.

I found a card with a fingerprint on it that was on the printing plate or negative. You can see a partial design reverse. Could have been on 1 card or 1000 cards. What was the ending about?
@Hungryman97sCollectiblesАй бұрын
That would be cool to have a card with a fingerprint. I can see how it could happen. Yeah that ending was a little random. My buddies are I were remodeling one of their kitchens and had to take down the nasty old drywall. Hey, I got a stack of card pages, slightly used, if you're interested in meeting up. No charge of course.

How does PSA justify a PSA 10 grade for the Bonds RC when there are printing defects on the base card and the base error variation?
@Hungryman97sCollectiblesАй бұрын
@joeschmoe2011 I think your question illustrates the problem with "paying for the grade". PSA, for instance, will grade based on centering and condition. So one card in a 10 may have tons of annoying spots whereas another 10 may have no spots.

My favorite of all time is the 1992 Pro Cards Minor League of Steve Karsay who was the Angels pitching coach this past year. It comes out of a wax pack of one of the MOST LIMITED products EVER. It has a piece of scotch tape on the negative…hence you can see the tape on his card. Karsay also gave up Piazza’s home run on the game after 9/11.

@Hungryman97sCollectibles26 күн бұрын
I'm glad you found the variation! Just be careful what you call a variation. With the other two marks you found, was it a mass produced variation? Or is it a one-of-kind print flaw? If so, it wouldn't have value. See if you can find another example of your card (I use ebay to search) to know if it's an actual variation.

Great video! Have you ever seen a texture variant on the 87 Topps set? One of my Maddux 87 Topps Traded rookies is textured on the surface like high quality stationery - not shiny like the Tiffany. I made a video with close ups on it about 6 months ago. I have no clue if this was a mass produced official ‘variant’ or what, but I thought I’d ask!
