Thanks Chuck. I will try this for an area that I haven't dug out for a french drain yet. Would the vertical drain still work if the ground is really saturated you think? Thanks again for all the great content you put out. Learned so much from you!

Unfortunately I live in AZ, where my soil is basically rock hard dirt. Way harder than that hardpan. A big pickaxe doesn't even do anything, need a jack hammer and can only go little by little. Caliche soil they call it. I don't think this would work for me sadly (not even sure what will). Really good idea though.
