I’ve had two phones that after an update, no longer work properly. I couldn’t undo the update and ended up buying a new phone. I had my current phone for a few years now and it feels like Samsung think it’s time I bought a new one so they send an update to fuck it up.

By the way, when maximum restriction mode is turned on, when you try to send media from your gallery to a social media app, it will send in "BIN" file type. You need to send media from inside the social media app or turn off maximum restrictions.

For a few weeks I haven't been able to share pics and videos directly from my gallery to and social media or chat apps. I just reviewed this Maximum Restrictions feature, turned it off and that's what was causing the issue apparently. I don't even remember turning it on but maybe I did.

I have that in Security and Privacy and I'm on the October patch. And yes there's the maximum restriction option too. If yo do activate the maximum option, to turn it off you have to use your FP or PIN. BTW mine is an S23 Ultra BUT never hurts to be reminded....thanks Saki

on my s23 ultra there is no Maximum Restrictions available with auto blocker turned on. it shows on your phone with it on

Tap on Auto Blocker.....make sure it's off.....and you go into another menu.....keep it off and scroll down to the bottom......maximum restrictions is greyed out at the very end. if you turn on auto block from that menu then Maximum Restrictions becomes active. Then tap on that and it takes you into yet another menu lol I leave it off because it really locks alot of stuff .

This is What happen to me this morning after the software upgrade was that when I went to my car this morning and plugged my phone to my car to see it on my car screen it didn't work until I got to work and investigate this ad blocker and sure it was the culprit. Had to take it off to see all my apps and to talk to Google in my car.

Thanks for telling us about USB Autoblocker; I did the recent updates and see that mine is disabled. I have a Galaxy S22 and old TAB A8; I am having problems with one app called EMACS text editor. If anyone knows how to solve this problem where I can't access my Downloads Folder while with in EMACs; I enabled permissions and it still won't allow me to open a file. I do control x and f; only lists a few folders(dirs). I even tried the /storage/emulated/0 folder and it doesn't work. Ya, it would be cool to get EMACs to work on the phone and tablet.

My Samsung is so old there are no updates for it. Galaxy J7. And the apps you hit to check for smoothness were only 2 over and over. Calculator and gallery i think, very clever. hit the other too not just the same ones.

The update didn't slow the phone down... He only flicked in and out of the same app (calculator) twice, didn't even use it, the app would still be running as he'd already opened it once, who is he trying to kid, Does he work for samsung?

If it doesn't disable USB charging, your device will still die if being plugged into a usb kill.....it prevents DATA not power. It's literally useless smoke and mirrors from samsung

Malware yes. USB-kill devices no, because has nothing to do with the data side of the USB connection. It will send a high voltage discharge regardless of anything.

@@VA3HDL I think you are taking an educated guess with regards to the USB-kill devices although it’s incorrect. I’ve seen half a dozen videos where kill devices have failed to destroy IPhone that have had this feature for 18 months. Also, the capacitor in the kill stick discharges to the data lines to circumvent fuses on the power rail.

A recent update on Samsung Galaxy smartphones could prevent Android Auto from working, but it’s pretty easy to fix. The latest November 2024 update on Samsung Galaxy devices is rolling out. The update doesn’t change much, but it does adjust how Samsung’s “Auto Blocker” feature works. The feature will now block all USB connections except for charging.
