That plane was shot down. You can see on the tail where shrapnel from a fragmenting weapon hit it. The plane lost hydraulics and couldn't move its control surfaces anymore. The pilot had to control the plane by varying the thrust from the engines hence the reports of it flying erratically. Its a very very hard thing to do. Its a miracle anyone survived at all.

If a Surface to Air missile had been shot at the Airliner then it would have immediatly crashed at the Grozny airport and never had a chance to fly to azerbaijani city Aktau for Landing , because the damage from Missile is too great .

This was an Azerbaijan airlines operating an Embraer, a Brazilian plane, which is considered safe. It was going from Azerbaijan to Chechnya, Russia on the other side of the Caspian Sea. The plane requested an emergency landing in Kazakhstan, which was granted to it. This is very poor reporting on behalf of ABC. Other US news outlets did a better job.
