Praying for mother and baby. Maybe she knew good, decent people lived in that house and that's why she left the baby there. Yes, NY has safe haven laws and she should have left the baby at a hospital or a firehouse but maybe she was afraid they would ask her questions or try to get her to keep the baby. She also didn't want people to know who she is because she covered her face really well and looked down when she passed the cameras.

This has been happening in NYC for over 150 years. Poor immigrants would leave their babies on the doorsteps of the rich. We used to have orphanages to take them in, but not anymore.
