Nice review. I have a Viking Profish GT which has the same tackle pod as the Reload. My requirement for a kayak were light weight, stability, sea worthy in rough weather and easy to paddle. The GT is only around 54lbs so easy to load on the car and transport. Wide flat hull with reverse chines and low seating position make it stable. Low profile helps with paddling although not as easy to paddle as the Reload.

+Kayak Q 305 FishIn thanks. I know the video was long but feel there was a lot of important info on a well thought out design. Thanks for support. Btw planning on getting one to get on the water review and show what it can do. Hope I can do it justice. Kayak might be more capable for fishing than me. Haha. Nevertheless this kayak really excited me at icast. I wanted to get back to a paddle kayak but wanted one that was quick and built for offshore. This will also be a nice platform for my weekend camping trips. Have some simple rigging ideas I would like to test on it as well. I would also love to try a pacific action style sail on it. When not in use the sail could fold out of way. Bet the thing would fly on the water! So many options. Love that chill-pod as well. I could keep rambling but long story short I definitely am getting my hands on one soon!

Imagine the chill pod with some salt ice in there epic

The standard package Reload currently doesn't include rudder or tackle pod. The Reload "Z" package includes rudder, tackle pod, and also it appears to include Railblaza rod holders.

The best off shore kayak
@LarryTalbot_13137 жыл бұрын
I think it looks awesome! It seems like they thought about every inch of space and put it to use. The rudder design looks more efficient too. I wouldn't be surprised if every rudder at iCAST next year doesn't look like that! Very cool!

+Larry Talbot it is very smart rudder design. Not sure why so many brands make ridiculously long rudders that draft several inches below the hull. Just is asking for trouble. Especially backing up off of shore you can damage rudder quick. Viking has really thought through a lot of things.

I thought so too. I think the "long" rudders were probably for early tracking and I can completely see that. But times have changed and hull designs have changed and that long rudder is just not necessary for tracking any longer. I've also noticed that a lot of the rudders today are rather flimsy (thin plastic?) and probably couldn't take the slightest backing off shore, but that's probably why they are retractable. Viking's design looks beefy and strong and that's solid gold for someone who is in a hurry to get fishing!

Viking kayaks are made well. I tried out a couple at a demo day. They track well also.

Very similar concept. Now tons of companies are doing it. Viking still is an amazing kayak to paddle.

seems a great yak for offshore

+Fishing Channel offshore, inshore, or some lakes. I just wouldn't use it much on winding rivers. It essentially is a more stable touring fishing kayak. That is my opinion. It is exactly what I could use where I live. Hoping to get one in near future. I want to get a nice tarpon on one and go for a fun sleigh ride. That is a goal.

Travis7919 no need to change what works. I have one on order as of recently. Going to be nice in the gulf ocean waters by me. Lots of useful features and designed well for customization.

OK, so my advice is "be careful". I can confirm that viking's material is softer/different from others. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmGaZIRsbaZsa68

No comp for Stealth Performance Products.

+Freddy York Stealth Profisha series costs over $1000 more than even the loaded out Viking Profish Reload Z. Also Stealth has minimal dealers....especially in U.S (two).
@freddy41307 жыл бұрын
I am well aware. Sometimes, things are just worth more. It is an hand made kayak, made from superior materials. I happen to be one of the two dealers in the states. I won't apologize for the kayaks being better than the plastics. I would be more than willing to demo the kayak for you since we aren't that far apart.

Viking and stealth are 2 very different beasts. Viking is much better for most fisherman with the enormous amounts of storage options and accessories. Viking any day over Stealth.
@freddy41304 жыл бұрын
Reef Hunter NZ storage options? Have you seen the fish hatch on a stealth? There is literally no comparing the storage volume of a stealth to a Viking. Add that to the rear hatch and the built in live wells on the stealth. What storage are you talking about? And accessories? You don’t need any accessories but those you like can be added, that’s why they’re called accessories.
