Just as everyone says, Canon's Color Science is actually quite a bit better than Sony's. The color pallette is warmer and quite a bit more natural and flattering, but Sony's focus tracking is most definitely superior. Your mind is made up, no nothing I say will alter your decision. The skin tones at the beginning of the comparison were so much nicer on the Canon. They have the best colour science. Sony is much higher quality overall though

Also the product showcase mode on the sony was so fast which feels like such a plus. This was a helpful comparison also coming from someone who doesn't necessarily need all the bells and whistles the same way most people who would be buying this camera wouldn't need them either.

Canon seems to look better for me cuz I prefer less saturation. But Canon seems to have a stronger buzz in the audio background, especially outdoors. I would've like to see you walk and talk with both, I think Canon has bit better stabilization with less crop, at least what I've seen in other videos. I had ZV-1 and ZV-1 horribly shaky and with stabilization way too cropped and I am kinda a minimalist so I hated dragging around wide angle lens (at least I put it on by magnetic mount so no need screwing around but you have to make sure its properly attached or it will fall off). I wonder if Canon with stab on will be wide enough. iPhone 13 Pro is ok but missing something, but it's so convenient and light and stable with such a wide angle BUT its missing that zing and sound can be meh unless close to camera and not lots of background noise, it seems you really have to push the volume up a lot in post sometimes. BUT the product showcase for those who use that feature are stellar on Sony.

I have the ZV-1 and I think it looks much more "cinematic" than the G7X! The only downside is color, but that's less noticeable to a KZbin audience than the overall quality of footage.

Correct its still my fave camera tho idc idc 😂 the internal mic is great in my opinion and the touch screen capability makes changing settings easier just didn’t take care of mine so it’s damaged but will likely repurchase. Currently using a Sony.

i have the sony zv-1! I can vouch the battery is pretty bad, so i’ve bought 3 extra batteries and that works just fine. It also has an image stabilizer for the shaky video! Life changing. Overall I recommend it; it’s a neat little camera :)

one thing im worried about is the stabilization on the zv-1 and it's why im kinda leaning towards getting a mk2. there is a clip where u say the film is shaky bc of ur hand but I also think it's part of the camera? but the picture quality on the zv-1 is so much better imo.

after using the camera more, I realize a couple things with that shaky clip: 1) the stabilization setting was completely turned off - I find "active" stabilization setting is pretty smooth 2) the zv-1 wasn't on a tripod compared to g7x, so my hand shakiness was extra noticeable I still think the picture + audio quality is much better on the zv-1, but it depends on what videos you're looking to shoot!

i love watching these first hand side by side videos - I myself am a huge canon lover. the sony keeps up well, but i feel like the details came out a little better most of the time on the canon. I see most people using the m50; have you ever tried it? (I only have the M20 - the sound is definitely not as crisp as either of these lol)

This is so hard, our g7x broke over a year ago but have had so much stuff going on that we hadn’t been able to do anything about it or had the money for a new one, finally tried to repair it ourselves the other day because at that point of wanting it back and missing it too much, but it didn’t work. So thinking of either just getting a new g7x ii or the Sony instead. Keep going back and forth , though did notice a lot of people we watch that have both seem to still use the g7x more . Just worried since we loved that so much and used to that one we will be disappointed with the Sony.

the G7X is still a great option! if you prefer Canon, then it will probably take some time to get used to using Sony. personally, I started with Sony originally and I enjoy the interface, features and sound quality more, but that's just me :)

Sony has a greenish tint to it. You look stunning on canon. Sony is more vibrant though but doesn't always look the best bc of the green tint. Maybe that could be fixed in settings? but also you look much better on Sony in lower light

I do vlog style videos myself though I talk about the subject of the paranormal, I have a Sony AX53 camcorder and a Sony a7II mirrorless camera, but oddly enough when I do my vlogs I use my Razer Kiyo Pro webcam, since it's hooked up with USB directly to my computer, it's convient. I use the other cameras when out in the field.

I currently have the g7x mark ii but I’ve been getting frustrated when it comes to the mic. I’ve always wanted the Sony zv1 from the start but it was too pricey. Now I wish I spent the extra $$ for it cause g7x mark ii doesn’t have an input for an external mic 😔 the only thing I’m worried about for the Sony is the battery life and the screen opening out to the side

That’s how I felt after using the G7X mark ii for a while! It’s still a good camera but I’ve been really happy with the ZV 1. I don’t mind the screen on the side but I did end up getting extra batteries

the stabilization was turned off on the Sony for the clips in this video. however, there is "active" stabilization mode which is a LOT smoother in my opinion!

Solid review. Try getting either a wireless mic or shotgun mic, your audio will be amazing on the ZV-1.

i do mainly vlogs and landscape shots but at the same time i dabble in photography as much as the next instagram user. I just bought the canon and what im noticing it does fulfil my basic photography needs esp the colour science and the blooms you get reminiscent of film(?) but it does poorly lack in terms of video quality. I dont just vlog. I take surrounding shots as well so this has been a let down. I think one day im going to switch over to the zv1 buy it 2nd hand just for vlogging but im def keeping my canon for photography. Why not buy a dslr?? i guess im just not that too into photography to be carrying around a bulk so a point and shoot camera is exactly what i need. But yeah for now im going to be switching back and forth between the canon and my phone to carry out both purposes hmm

The sony is better quality and has better sound. The Canon seems to have more of a pink hue and the Sony a green one. I find the Canon is more flattering on Asian skin tones, but i like the features of the Sony😢

Hi Celine, did you notice a difference on the width of the lense? I have been using the Sony for a while now and it seems to me that it cuts the frame so much -e.g. when I am shooting in my room, it really cuts out so much of the room when I press record. I don't know if the canon has maybe a bit of a wider frame as that would be what I am looking for. Thank you for the video, really helpful ❤
