Great layout. UP Locomotives by Walthers have great pulling power on the coal train and also look great on the Pass train. Mike HO from Australia

Been looking for instructions too. Thx for your video that saved my two units from probable damage. Keep it up!

Just don't forget to take off the couplers before trying to remove the shell!

That is some impressive pulling power. Nicely done and thanks for sharing 🤠

And I put them to the extreme test. I don't think I'll ever run them with such a long train in normal operations.

Wow. And I thought I had a lot of stuff in my train room. Thanks for the great video sir.

Thanks! To be fair, many of the trains on the layout are owned by friends, and not necessarily the layout owner.

Nicely detailed models, seem to pull well! Quite the layout! (Dave).

Always nice when manufacturers don't bother with instructions for opening the loco/coach... 🙄

What's kind of funny. Yesterday I was working on a Walthers Mainline engine, and its instructions DID have a section called "Removing the body" lol. They remembered on the cheaper engines, but not the expensive engines!

I like to collect older Proto 2000 E series. I really want to pick one of these up because I'm curious of the changes and want to see the old and new side by side. I have a E8 in Rapidos new run and it's really nice. Not has heavy as the old P2K though.
@signalupproductions7 ай бұрын
Yeah I feel like the Walthers could have been a little heavier. And there is room in the shell for a little more weight, so I might add some later.

I am distributor for rapido and they did a nice job with these and the F units! Have a pair myself!

I didn’t realize Walthers had this set. I looked on their website and it’s no longer available.
@signalupproductions7 ай бұрын
Yeah they were announced last summer, with an expected due date of late Dec '23 or early winter of '24. Walthers is pretty good about getting stuff to market quick! I'm sure if you called around some of the bigger named hobby shops someone would still have 1 in stock.

Hey thank you. Back in the mid 90’s Proto 2000 made the two A units. I bought those and had to add A LOT of details to get them to UP’s current prototypes of the locomotives. Rivarossi I believe it was made and. Undecorated B unit that I bought, detailed and fully painted. Over the years, the A-B-A set has gotten pretty much destroyed though, so I’d like to have another set, but with less work. Thanks again and great video.

I just purchased the DC variant of the trio, and obviously I will be upgrading them to DCC with at least one having sound. The ones I purchased are from the newest run, and I am very curious to what exact Loksound 5 Decoder they use since you can buy pre-progammed sound decoders. Its just a matter of what exact EMD sound file should be used since they are rebuilt units on the prototype. I wasn't able to tell easily in the video, but I wasn't sure if Walthers had the speakers installed on the DC variants. If they did install them regardless, then I would just need the decoder itself. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't choose to put speakers on the DC locos
@signalupproductions6 ай бұрын
The decoder in the single sound unit I got is a standard 58429 Loksound 5 DCC. It has the proper 645 non-turbo sound, with the RS5T horn out of the box. The DC set does not have a speaker. To upgrade those to sound (which I will probably do down the road), there was space for round speakers.

so really, one loco was pulling all those cars, they did seem to come detached a couple times , they are nice, and Walthers does some great running loco's
@signalupproductions7 ай бұрын
I think the times that the lead engine came uncoupled the rear 2 were still pulling the train. All were powered. But yes. However, those were also in the "downhill" parts of the layout. I should have done a test to see how many one engine would pull on flat track!

Thanks for the video, what was the detail part just before the three minute mark in the bag?
@signalupproductions6 ай бұрын
The instructions never said. But the gap in the pilot looks oversized. My guess it's large to accommodated more coupler swing on tighter curves. Therefore, the part in the bag is probably a filler piece to make the gap in the pilot smaller for a more prototypical appearance.

Yes, I will be at Amherst next weekend. My first time, and I'm stoked! A video will come the following week once I get home and settled.

What was the Decoder that you installed?
@signalupproductions7 ай бұрын
In the 2 DC engines, I added ESU LokPilot 59629 decoders. These are non sound, motor control decoders
