New Water Filtration System For Our Boat - Sea Ray Sundancer

I recently picked up the new water filtration/water treatment system that I'll be installing aboard our boat 'Boogaboo' soon. Met with 'Gary The Water Guy' (thewaterestore...) at his store in Midland, Ontario to go over the system and talk about the technical side of the unit that I will be using.

I have a similar system, did the exact same thing. Used a splice into portable water pump. When I am on dockside the pump does not kick on but still powers the UV.

Good Afternoon Paul, My name is Andy and Im interested in knowing the parts needed and perhaps a diagram of how you plumed your water system, from the lake water to the holding tank. Currently my wife and I have been boating on GB for some 45 years and this would be a game changer to having to get water. We can make our 100 gl last for a week or so but would like to not be so stringent on our water use. Thanks for any help that could be given.

Hello Paul, I was wondering if your running an inverter on boogaboo? I’m looking into it but you are my source for boating as you have taught me a lot!!! Appreciate any guidance! Our boat is a carver 325 aft cabin!! Thanks again for everything you do.

Hi Chris. Our #boat did come equipped with an inverter, but we don't use it. For any large A.C. loads, the generator takes care of that, so we really don't have much call for the inverter. Probably not exactly the answer you're looking for, but that's all I got.

Going up to midland this week, hopefully it is in stock. I assume I need to buy a pump to get the water to the holding tank?

Good. You can contact Gary through his site or KZbin channel (links in the description) to check on availability. He's a good guy to work with and I think you'll be happy with the experience 👍 As for the pump, you will need a 1 GPM unit to move the water through the system, as well as a source. I'll be using an underutilized through hull to draw the water out of the lake on this #boat, but on our last #Boogaboo, I simply teed off of the existing air conditioning/heat pump line and that worked fine. Just note that if you go the A/C line route, make sure you don't run the A/C at the same time, so as to not starve either system...

Can this system be used in salt water?

It's designed primarily for use on freshwater systems in residential applications. But given the fact that it's a 12V system, it works perfectly for filtering fresh water from the lakes and rivers where we boat. You'd have to contact the manufacturer to see what they say about a salt water application...
