What I have seen is giving no snack 2 hrs before lunch / dinner has them eat better.. Also during lunch/dinner I give only the main dish( with protein and veggie) first.. and then once that's done I give the rest if she is hungry like fruit, yoghurt etc..
@nishavats5922 жыл бұрын
Semolina pancakes. Mix some yogurt and chopped veggies in the semolina, add water for consistency. Let it sit for 5 mins and cook them like the usual pancakes. They are yummy and nutritious. You can also grind the veggies, it’ll make colourful pancakes, spinach for green, tomatoes or carrots for red etc.

Nice to know I'm not the only out there going through this I would cry most days worrying if my daughter isn't eating enough or why she's not eating her veggies or certain things but as long as she is eating and it's on her plate I can't stress it anymore! Toddlers are definitely picky
@sarabickel99962 жыл бұрын
I always gave my sons carrots, cukes, even a pickle... before dinner. If they were actually hungry, they'd eat the veggies. Veggies have basically no calories, so they'd be hungry again by dinner. We also ate pretty early because that way they could have a snack or sweet before bed. We only did dessert once or twice a week so it was more of a surprise. They never knew when, begging wasn't constant. They were also picky eaters and two years apart. I love seeing how you are all are doing ❤️

Banana pancakes for breakfast! Banana, 1 egg, vanilla, and you can add oats in it if you want as well. I’ve even added smashed avocado to for more fats!

I was about to post the same recipe. For my kids I use 1 banana, 1 egg, 3 table spoons of oat flour and 1 table spoon of peanut butter. They love it

Chia seeds are a staple in our house! It has protein, omega3 and fiber so it's awesome way to put in some protein. I stir it into my daughter's yogert or in smoothies. Every 1-2 weeks I make a huge smoothie batch and fill up resuseable pouches as a snack for the week. They freeze and thaw well in the fridge the day before. Plus great for on the go!

I watched a couple of your what your kids eat videos over the years. I thought you would be interested to hear that I don't find your kids overly picky. They have preferences for sure but they eat quite a nice variety. We did BLW with both our kids and while the second one eats a nice variety, our older toddler is insanely picky. Just started out of nowhere around age 1 (around the time I weaned her actually) - before, she ate everything we ate (from healthy homemade options to quick fast food takeout). There aren't even any options to sneak in some nutrients since she doesn't eat anything where you typically could (no pancakes, Muffins, sauces, juices). She doesn't touch anything dairy (or any dairy alternatives). We are just incredibly lucky that some of the few things that she does eat, are actually nutritious. She loves beans, broccoli, Cashews, peas, carrots and several fruits (watermelon, mandarin, strawberry, peaches, apples and lemons). All the vegetables must be the frozen ones - I don't know how but she somehow knows when I made them with fresh ones. She also enjoys oats - without anything. Try to give her an oat cookie and she behaves as if I want to poison her but she will gobble down an enitre bowl of dry old fashioned oats 😆 she also loves bacon, fries, pickles, popcorn and chocolate, plus recently added plain rice cakes to her diet but that's it. We tried everything imaginable with her from healthy to unhealthy options. And everything needs to be on different plates, nothing mixed or even touching each other 🤷♀️ she's a 98th percentile healthy little giant. So the pediatrician was never worried about her diet or food intake. She's not even complaining when we put any new foods or foods we know she doesn't eat in front of her. Just will say "yummy, so good" but not touch anything. She will simply not eat. That can get really dangerous - not every kid will start eating when truly hungry. Some will just not eat until they faint - sadly, I speak from experience. I put what we have in front of her - once in a blue moon she will surprise me and actually try something. Then ask her what else she wants. Most days that's beans - lots of beans. I also found that she eats better at unusual times of the day - she won't eat any breakfast but has quite the appetite around 10 am. So I offer her a meal then and a snack instead of lunch. She also doesn't eat around dinner time but is very hungry around 4 pm. Feeding them the healthy foods when they are actually hungry really helps us. Anyway, my go to food with our younger toddler is scrambled eggs - so quick and easy, great to include leftovers, veggies and/or cheese and fits well with any kinds of sides (her favorite is with potatoes).

I’m with you!!! My kids - 2years old in a week - don’t eat much in a day but the floors certainly do because that’s where it all ends up 😑 my kids don’t like breakfast food at non-breakfast times which pains me because sometimes I just want to make eggs when I can’t think of anything else lol

Love seeing something so relatable. My daughter is almost 2 and is becoming pickier. Most days, I feel like I'm a magician just pulling tricks out of a hat and hoping it works. I know you didn't ask for advice, but just sharing this (current) game changer: Yummy Toddler Food blog has a recipe that adds sweet potato (and other veggies if you want) to some eggs and make mini muffins out of them. The sweet potato adds a sweet taste to the eggs and my toddler has devoured them. She doesn't really eat regular scrambled eggs. I love Yummy Toddler Foods muffins/sweet potato donuts. I do want to say...I ate a lot of fast food as a child and now I have absolutely no desire to eat fast food. Also as a child, I was limited on candy/sugary dessert, and as an adult, I can sure tear up some sweets!

Aaahhh… the struggle is real.. SO REAL! Single twin mom of 3yo boys.. one eats just about anything, like sauerkraut.. seriously! The other has refused to eat veggies, or meats of any sort.. since he was on solids. He’ll eat occasionally eat chicken nuggets or breakfast sausage links (cause they taste like syrup 😛). They would live on fruit and breads if given the opportunity! I don’t know what it is, but man.. it makes it so hard to feed them without feeling like I’m wasting food (cause they don’t eat it).

Looks good! Possibly try chicken without breading? Also maybe white and if not white dark meat without breading. They do have chicken like this that is convenient as well. My daughter is older and she still does not like any kind of breading. Maybe even try taking the breading off and see. My daughter doesn’t like ranch but many do and barbecue ;she does like) with chicken. Of course a good peanut butter for protein. The two pickiest kids love hard boiled eggs sometimes they won’t eat the yolk part 🤦♀️
