New Wheels And Old Tires For The New RTV-X. Can Make It Up The Hill One Try Now With Slowpoke

Got the new wheels for the RTV-X because the tires that came on it stink and the Carlisle tires from the Sidekick needed more offset to prevent rubbing on the frame. Plus needed to widen the wheelbase some to line up with the trailer Etracks. Also seemed a little tippy on the firewood trail. This shows what is required to mount them and how the wheels fit. Ordered the Orange aftermarket Vision wheels from Summit Racing at 1/2 the price. Also a speed run at the end showing why we named it Slowpoke.

*Is there anything you CAN'T do?* Sharp looking results! It's SO great the way you always know how to tweak and customize all your toys and tools. Does your wife know what a treasure she has? You are both so talented and ambitious. We've had about eight inches of rain in the past week. Endless slop and slippery mud. Also very destructive powerful winds for a few days now. Ripped half my little greenhouse apart today. Then a massive electrical thunderstorm rolled in with more heavy rain this evening just as I got tools together to try and repair it. Tomorrow is supposed to be calmer. Everything seems to be behind typical reasonable expectations this year. I was just about ready to start filling pots and sowing some seeds when I had to stop. "The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men..." Well, it was a hard winter so I am grateful just to get outside. I hope you are having happier spring weather there.

Thanks, It keeps me out of her hair so we both win with projects like this 🤫. We have the same rain and wind issues as you have had lately. Garden is too wet to get started and looks like cold weather is on the way back. My tomatoes and peppers are germinated and looking good but still haven't put the early seeds in outside. The darn wind keeps blowing down old eab killed ash trees giving me one mess after another to clean up. Too wet to roll the yard yet and the grass is getting tall. Another normal spring in the north east 😉. I just have less tolerance to weather changing my plans as I get older. Hoping to get some peas and spinach in tomorrow and set up another raised bed. That factory offset seemed a little excessive when comparing this to the old sidekick that that set of tires fit right on. Those little harbor freight tire machines are very useful if you have smaller equipment. Thanks for watching.

Hi URHC, The new wheels 🛞 look 👀 very nice, and the stance of the truck looks better, it’s a shame that you’ve lost some performance, going over to diesel, and you were a thought. It would’ve had a lot more pulling power and struggle so much going up the hills., I have looked at some of the reviews of the petrol new version and the diesel version as well. It seems like the new petrol engine that is a lot better than last year. , Great looking truck, When I’ve got my garage sorted out, I’m hoping to pick myself up a ride on lawnmower, Keep up the grape reviews , stay safe, from France

I am surprised by how little torque this machine has once moving. I have to get some more hours on it to see if it loosens up. At least the wheels got the track width to what the gas one was and gave it more stability on the hill. And these tires don't plug up and slide like the stock ones did. The orange valve on the side of the driver seat, stop at the bottom of the hill and pull it up it will put it in bypass mode and give it more power to climb up the hill

That is the differential lock and nothing to do with power. If one rear wheel starts spinning that gets them both spinning for more traction. Thanks for watching.

Ed... You're getting her into functional shape. Hope this one is more reliable for you. Has your Kubota dealer provided you with an acceptable reason why if it is supposed to do 25 mph and it only does 16 to 18? I would think it would indicate to them that something isn't quite normal (and as advertised) and they should take corrective action. Take care, hope you and Dale are happy and in good health.

Definitely taking more time to switch over then I thought. They look the same but don't have much in common. I have to give it a couple more hours to break in as I have read that makes a difference. Really feels like the hydrostatic transmission uses a lot of the 25 hp and the engine rpm is not in the power range most of the time like my BX that has a separate throttle control and always runs wide open with just the hydro adjusting speed. Never expected a diesel to feel so underpowered but at 3 to 4 mph it's unstoppable. Runs good and sips fuel so I just have to adjust to the creeping along for now. Does it have a governor or a screw under the gas peddle? Seems very slow, unless the computer limits it until the engine is broken in completely.

I don’t know. There are a whole bunch of interconnected linkages on the engine and I am afraid to touch anything. Im thinking it may be related to breaking in. Supposed to hit 25 but highest I have been able to get it is 21 downhill, 17 up a slight grade on the road in front of our house. It has a bunch of torque below 5 mph. The hydrostatic transmission seems to be very power hungry as speed increases. Im going to pass it by the dealer. Thanks for watching.

Stopped down to see about this and about 20 mph is what they do on the flat. They can bump the speed up some but that sacrifices low end torque. Apparently it's best to leave them at the factory setting that have been optimized for torque and speed. Kind of sucks. They all come like this.
