seeing this makes me want to come back to the game just for the chance to compete. facts about the skill diff. I felt like I was better than 99% of players until I dueled a top 5 arena mage. would be awesome to compete with the best. too bad there is nothing else to do in this game.

I’m with this guy and what you said Deity. I love the game, combat is insane. 3v3 arena is my favorite PvP in any game. But getting on and spamming what little PvP content we have gets old. I was actually talking to my friend about them making a 1v1 tournament style game type and how awesome it would be. Or 3v3 with 1v1s, winner stays. But that’ll never happen. If these are open to everyone I would love to know when. Maybe even do arena brackets, like multiple open to whoever and winners move on to the final bracket.

Really hope you don’t give up on New World completely. Yes, there is a lull in content. Yes, the NW community can be pessimistic. “AGS is moving…” or whatever the rumors are. But the devs just released a video sharing about combat system reworks. Games don’t get combat reworks when it’s dying or devs are “moving on”… It still has a bright future.

pvp could be better but depending on how far back you played, its improved alot. game pop is low but populated servers are still populated and feel alive

Prediction riposte works well against average-good players. But you prolly just needed to be more reactive with it against him.

I think you could have used riposte better in some of those circumstances, but even if you did, it's still on the opponent to mess up. I think I only saw you hit one riposte, and he got out of it right away because of freedom. The rest of the time he was able to dodge riposte after he triggered it (again, it's completely on him whether or not he dodges these), or he was able to punish riposte by waiting for the invuln period to end while you are still animation locked, scoring him a free hit (this happened multiple times). Of course, if you used riposte better, he wouldn't have scored as many free hits off of your riposte. However, he can still read your playstyle and cooldowns, and make semi-accurate predictions for when you will try to use riposte, and once again score free hits. In other words, you can improve your riposte usage, but your opponent can also improve their play against it. Overall, I think you guys were very evenly matched. If you played another 10 matches, you might have been able to adjust your rapier playstyle as you said, and perhaps you could have made a comeback to win the match. I also think that if you used flurry or fnf over riposte you probably would have won, because it did seem like that was the difference maker.

that's how every single competitive 1v1 tournament has been done in the past. potions and consumables mimic a real fight. non-potion tournaments would be full of cheesy DoT or lifeleech builds that are completely useless in real fights
