Realy great Video but, for the third perk on the Sword you can do neither Lifestealing, Keenly Jagged, Enchanted or Thwarting Strikes since all of them have the same perk lable as either Refreshing Move or Trenchent Rend. The Mortal perks and Shirking perks are not good for Tanking. So you're left with Keen, Hated or in this case Empowering Whirling Blade. Empowering Leaping Strike or Contagious Reverse Stab work too instead of Empowering Whirling Blade. quick note: Mortal Refreshment could be good as long as you're not fighting a Boss.

Fun fact, you can’t taunt with an active taunt still going. So Berserking before the initial 8 sec is not applying a second taunt. You have to wait for the taunt symbol over the mobs head to disappear before reapplying another. You can see this while he is showing us bludgeon perk with the flail at the end. I think the taunt is another 8 sec and you can see the taunt disappear seconds after popping the 3rd/4th Bludgeon because that’s when the initial taunt ends. Just have a taunt ready after the effects ends to be effective, no reason to taunt every sec when damage is priority to assist the taunt during the effect. Also, butcher can be used with a protection amulet if you use a refreshing move kite shield with the appropriate shield ward element. Been doing this for months.

My new tank build is SnSnF with Odo, Void Darkplate, and Lost Stopwatch. Jasper in my Sword with RM and Emp Whirling Blade, and using the Stoneform Heartrune so that I can't get knocked out of the whirl. The build is so obscenely tanky that sometimes I forget that I have a shield. I go 210 Str, 25 Dex, 25 Foc, 350 Con. 3350 armor is crazy...

Aww no mention of Great Sword tanking, for me it works just as well and was a lot more fun. It is the weapon that got me into tanking cause I couldn't stand the S&S. It has two 8m taunts (didn't need it but thanks AGS) so its SUPER easy to hold agro. It does take so practice but calamity counter can negate big boss attacks or big mob pulls. Will say that I did try S&S an it was hard to get use to cause the tanking styles are so diffrent.

I’ve always played tank in every mmo for more than 12 years. One thing g I haven’t got and if anyone can help I’d be pleased. Everyone is telling me my set is pretty decent I have 4x parrots with shirking Fort, but my question is I never use evade so how come this perk would be beneficial for me ?? I play SnS/Flail. Cheers

Some additional input for tanking with the SnS Butcher artifact: You can get refreshing move by using the nightveil shields from this years haloween event. They come locked with refreshing move and flame conditioning. You can also choose one additional perk when crafting them with the pattern. The only downside is that they only go up to 675 but shields don't count towards the overall gearscore so not much lost.

I go full into right hand tree for sword and shield because allows to keep attention of mobs much much easier even if you are playing on a different region with high ping like myself because some of the hits dont register because of the ping difference

can you please do video on tanking mutated dungeon guide for every dungeon. I need a tanking 101 class because a lot of success of clearing a dungeon relies on a competent tank. on the same note because you like playing healing class you can do a real comprehensive dungeon guide.

The "old fortify" cap is 50%. The type of resist we get with gems, amulet perk, Defensive Formation (I think that's the name, the last passive of the right tree of SnS, and like only other 2 abilities) and it not only applies to elemental dmg, applies to all dmg types.

Shields count as armor not weapons. So no you can not use dark plate and the wall artifacts at the same time. Either you use dark plate and a tower shield or the wall and heavy.

Get rid of dispised it's just not needed, get the named sword like you said and put whirl on it, and put ankh on. I don't understand why it's not mandatory on basic tank builds. I know pvp grind but it's bis. 25% increased incoming heals nuff said. Good option if your poor and can't swap gems using the protection. Everything else spot on. Please if your a tank and don't take the final offensive perk your just wrong. 10% buff to your dps they don't need your protection and you don't either. I can pull the whole expedition with the stone form healing heart ruin with whirl and don't need a healer. Whirl puts your heart rune to basically 0 with all the mobs getting hit at once.

@ChrisHynes-jo2zy I haven't had a dps hold aggro off me with 300 con 300 str with ss. I run ss/flail just for fun and never have issues. The only dps that will even get close is a rapier off initial pull for about 10 seconds. Also remember if your tanking and they aren't focusing the mob you are and they pull aggro that's on them.

For m3 rend is really overated same with weekend i rather have a dps tank like me been runing same build from day one and i out dps msot casual dps any way more less:/ and it´s perfect for pvp to we are so buffed already with some much gear shanges for dps and healers sure if you whant to carry you´r grupps dps output sure but people should be running s4 builds by now you can´t just run in now days in rapier mode with 0 con like you could before. And i take a brusher 200 con any day a week over this guys watching old speed running people the time is not a prob any more in m3s so who cares and leadserboards are still not accurate and morre for kids who whant to see their name on top page. And linking good gear don´t say any thing about if they have the right build ore using catings ward potions honingstones 3 major in their houses ore just been bosted i only run m3 with frends i know linking is just not anuff any more and the pile of new players ore returning garbage is the majorty in the game still.

It really bugs me how artifacts are heralded by the game as these rare great end game piece's, but it seems like the more research I do on them the more tedious they seem to find work arounds for their disadvantages. Weapons for example not coming with a gem slot. It seems like they're quite a few artifacts that aren't used because they're more annoying to build around than not. Not everything needs to be uber balanced especially since you can only equip one artifact of each gear type.

@@mrbean44100 For the amount of time you spend building up your equipment, it would be nice to have some artifact pieces that aren't nerfed for the sake of pvp balance. If I only get to equip one artifact of each gear type, I expect it to be op as well as reduce the need of having to spend tons of money and time crafting the perfect piece of equipment for BiS. Personally, I wish the devs would have separate perk stats based on whether you're in pvp or doing pve to mitigate pve being affected by a pvp change. Most of the time I hear about a perk or item getting nerfed, it's because of a pvp issue.

@@mrbean44100 To add on, after getting an artifact which you can be super unlucky and not get one during a mutation cycle, not only do you have to complete objectives to unlock perks, but then you have to fork out a bunch of gold (assuming you can't craft the required items) or level up your trade skills which cost money as well. Simultaneously wait for a daily cooldown in the event you're trying to upgrade a couple pieces while grinding dark matter which isn't a quick process. Then, add onto the fact that you only get one of each gear type that can be equipped as well as having to choose between a gem slot or an additional perk so I have to choose between pvp or pve or be forced to upgrade again to change which costs more money. Then they have magnify, which is an annoying stat you have to factor into the equation as well as some perks that aren't useful at all. At the very end you then have to find a build that works well to integrate the piece, not to mention that given another expansion or two they will most likely become obsolete with new gear coming. So yeah...It would be nice to have a couple of op items that I could just destroy things without worry of useless perks or pvp nerfs.

Clearout doesn't break up clumps. Now that repulsing clearput is no longer a thing, its just a knockdown..the mobs barely move

I covered both of these things in the video, clearout doesn't knock back (15:02) the infinite taunt on Flail is good (41:51) doesn't work on bosses though (needs 4 or more enemies)
