Vault-kick is SO good in PVE when mobs are '"Charging" for an attack (blueish like animation), you can easily cancel their attack with it.

So far as I can tell, that "blueish animation" is Grit. You also get it with Sweep and Cyclone. When Grit is active, CCs like knockdown don't work. Does stun actually work?

Ya the vault kick will stun pve (non-elite) grit attacks. You just have to get it off before their attack animation

Vault kick is pretty much the best ability vs tanks in PvP. It will stun through the shield which is absolutely massive.

A fantastic tech trick is to use the spear throw animation to cancel animations when needed. Ie. you can charge a heavy attack, hit the spear throw ability, hop backwards, and it'll cancel that charge up and dodge. You can also cancel the "stun" after the heavy attack animation by pulling out the spear throw and then hopping

Beginners should just focus on impaler tree and just re-spec at lvl 19, I suggest getting the dmg passives when enemy has full hp and down to 15% hp as fast as you can, open up with the bleed strike skill, followed up by vault kick and then the 3x strike,rinse and repeat. Melts enemies superfast. P.s theres also a passive that reduces colldowns, grab that too.

He’s saying if your combine a spear with a strength weapon you’ll do damage but with the strength weapon you’ll get more if you main strength as an attribute.

In the attribute allocation window on the right it shows how the damage of your equipped weapons change as you put stats. Dexterity is above and beyond the best Stat with a spear. It scales incredibly well.

Full Dex, Spear + Musket, don't take spear throw. Great PVE Take the sweep knockdown, bleed and vault stun. Musket powder burn, shooter stance, all damage bonuses and timer bonuses in both weapons. Ready powder burn, go into shooter stance, fire off 5 headshots, switch to spear, sweep knockdown, vault, and bleed. Cyclone and the sweep use in dungeons to CC. Sweep plus vault kick combo is how you use it. Shooter stance is great for boss fights with powder burn.

@@gam9837 I know right, but npc once you learn the patterns. I have the trap skill line now as well. So it's 5 headshots with powder burn, NPC gets caught in trap and you get healed by any trap damage you do. 1vs1 pve musket trap and spear is king, it's stun lock with enough cc to get you out of Dodge or just kite with powder burn reapplied. The large church troll in the brightwood chapel drops the wicked epic purple musket. Headshot is close to 400 damage plus

Vault kick will also act as an interrupt for most mobs. I have seen it not work on some boss types.

I like skewer, sweep, and perforate it can apply two bleeds, 3 if you have a spear with Keenly jagged and will have people running. That's when I prefer great axe as my off hand. Not to do damage but to reap, charge, grav well. With spear you need your enemy near you, they will run as long as youre in medium, and when chasing down someone it's nice to have the utility not to mention blood lust. Currently testing a build I dreamed up and just one bleed from skewer is ticking 380 a sec for 20 seconds. I run in medium for survival.

Exploited weakness is much, much better than Reserved Strength imo. RS gives you damage only at full stam, but even in group pve you have to dodge stuff. Basically unusable in solo pve or pvp. EW in the other hand is very easy to stack up with just Perforate alone (since it gives 3 stacks of Rend). Basically almost any Spear skill gives some sort of debuff so you can almost always have 20-30% dmg buff up.

3 stacks of rend only counts as a single debuff. If you pair spear with a secondary weapon that can apply debuffs (bow, musket and axe are good examples), you can always have 2/3 debuffs on an enemy though, and even 3/3 depending on how much the other weapon provides

Can you specify if you had a mistake when saying the spear gets more damage from strength? You said it scales with dex but a second afterwards you say that you get more damage with strength. is that correct or a mistake?

Not a mistake. Spear scales more from dexterity, but it also scales a little bit with strength. This is called secondary scaling. Many weapons have this

Being able to get hits off so when you dodge your stamina doesn’t go down to 0, might let you get 3 dodges and a block in, instead of usually 3 dodges and you’re drained

Also, you'll use more stamina for a dodge depending on what armour youre using. plus, if you've got the max level passive, you'll want to regen as much as possible to keep at max stam for the extra dmg %

Has anyone here tried spear + hammer seriously? The main issue of the build is obviously that spear would only get the secondary attribute scaling from str, not so much from dex, but the real moment this build shines is with the huge amount of cc you can chain together. Spear has: Javelin and the spear jump stun. Hammer has: a sweeiping knockdown and a jumping-like stun.

I've tried this. I'll probably level up hammer too eventually but for solo/small group I'm rocking dex/con with spear and bow. The bow means people can't kite me easily, and disengaging is very risky for them. I'll be looking at hammer for bigger PvP situations just to lock down so certain dps players in my company currently can let rip.

Gotta say, I disagree pretty heavily with a lot of info in your guide. I'm not a spear main, but I've played it quite a bit. I've experimented mostly with all my abilities into the right side and it's way better dps than left side and rewards high mobility play. You can easily maintain 2 debuffs on targets even solo to have a permanent 20% extra damage from the capstone. I typically Open with Skewer, which has some really nice range and get the bleed going and it's already 10% damage buff from the capstone (plus if you hit from behind that's 10 seconds of 20% extra damage from "follow through"). Perforate also has a powerful debuff (and both the bleed and rend work on bosses unlike some other debuffs where bosses are immune). I dodge as much as possible then use an ability to get back into the fight and a the reduced cooldown from aggresive maneuvers and I can pretty much spam only abilities with an occasional light attack chain thrown in.. super fun to dance around targets like this. In right side build it pairs really well with a bow to roll back and pop off some bow abilities when I need to keep some distance. Also, if you do this dodge dance you can often end up grouping mobs together well enough so your attacks can hit multiple mobs, which is super strong. Left side looks better as a slower playstyle with heavy attack focus, more range, crowd control and aoe...but not very good damage. I'd say it's a better spec if spear is the secondary weapon to compliment something else.

One of the passives on the Impaler tree makes hits with the spear do more damage per ailment stacked on the enemy. This doesn't seem to be unique to just ailments from spears because I am doing significantly more damage when using the burning shot from muskets, switching to the spear to use the bleed, and immediately going for the rend debuff as well. Mobs/Players 5-10 levels higher than me end up dying before this combo ends most of the time. It is ridiculously good so far.

Kinda curious just for sake of DPS or PvE mob grinding how much faster you can take out a mob preloading Overload and range, than the burning shot, than bleed and rend. I don't think it's be much faster but engaging using the extra range of the musket seems useful. I just got started so I'm just trying to figure out how I want to build out a character.

You can, I have the same GPU in my laptop and on low settings you could probably get 60 fps. I was running sort of medium and I had about 45 fps. Lower in towns ofc but still above 30. Also my laptop is barely alive so if you don't have any issues with your stuff it will probably run even better.

Once they remove the extra assets hidden under the ground, like the ocean and the mirrored sides of rocks, you should be able to run the game max settings with little to no stuttering. But right now, it's rendering everything you can't see as much as everything you can see.

Very shallow guide imo. You cant just say things are bad without knowing anything about them. For example if you combine exploited weakness with bow and use poison arrow, as well as debuff skills on spear you can close to 100% uptime on 30% increased damage.

@@jurom6765 life staff you cant go wrong with it because if a group is in need of a healer you can just respect on the fly to full healer and switch back to dps anytime. Healing is amazing and if you do pick it up use the 3 green skills on right side and you will pack a punch
