The thing is Krakoa has not touched its peak potential. I like the idea of mutants having their own culture, their own language, their own place. Just as much as I like Black Panther having Wakanda. But with Krakoa you could introduce stories that are kind of like Harry Potter. Make a series for the New Mutants of young mutants going to Krakoa for the first time after their powers manifest and getting to explore and experience this whole new world that they didn't know existed. It could lead to a lot of cool stories and a fun introduction series as well.

@@Akkbar21 Really see if that were true the books wouldnt sell as well. People are sick and tired of the school and not to mention given they are attacked LITERALLY every week it makes no sense for them to be in a single location that they cannot defend. So unless all the mutants move to Mars then it would be dumb.

I acknowledge that I am in the minority who feels like the X-Men being comics about Mutants having to face the reality of prejudice is a core element that should not be discarded. I never want to take away from any of the fabulous writing of recent years. I enjoy my comics feeling grounded in reality to an extent. The Mutants were always a representation of struggles and the importance of minorities and non-minorities coming together to break down the prejudices of the world. There's not been a single X-Men story where the Mutants hiding away from society on Krakoa, Genosha, Mars (read this week's Alpha Flight #1), or whereever for me that's felt like any of the Mutants want to make the world a better place any more (let alone be part of it.) This was the aspect that separated Mutants from the Eternals but in recent years those distinctions have been non-existent. There's no amount of fantastic writting which can make readers feel like Mutants or the X-men actually have an impact on Earth-616 when they are always in the equivalent of a pocket dimension.
@YungGokuOver Жыл бұрын
But are you right about this? The formation of the X-Men team a few arcs back says the exact opposite of what you're saying. Jean's whole thing after AXE goes totally against this too. Like yes...most of the books are focused on different things and ideas that have nothing to do with making the world better, they are dealing with their own issues...but we have a book dealing with what you're talking about. But even through all this, we see mutants still being hated on and junk. And now with the Fall of X, it's back to them being on the run and dealing with fixing the issues Orochis put on them. Like...I think I just disagree because it's there. Maybe not in every book, but I don't want that. I wouldn't read X-Men probably if that was the case. I'm a new reader starting from HOX/POX and I love it because finallyyyyyyy something new and different. There is a book for everyone and the book you're asking for was in the main X-Men Book or in that AXE event by the end. Sorry not trying to hate or anything, I just disagree. The prejudice is still there, just lesser...and now with the Fall it's bigger than ever.

@@YungGokuOver, there's no preceived hate (your generation really needs to stop acting like having an opinion of your own is something to be defensive about.) You own you! I am a child of the 90's. I grew up in an time where we actively fought for everyone to have a voice (as opposed to everyone being muted.) The X-Men were literally the poster child superhero team for my generation with their 90's resurgrance. It's one of the reasons why the 1990's cartoon was so impactful. There's no safe haven pocket dimension for me to jump into in the real world... so for me, its difficult to connect with those stories. (I am glad you are enjoying the runs because in no reality can I deny some of the writting talent involved in the past decade.)

@@UncannyGirl Sure and as someone from the LGBTQ+ community I understand that. But why the heck would anyone want to keep reading about them being in the school where everyone knows where they are and they are attacked weekly. From the 90s til the late 2010s it was literally just the school being blown up every few weeks. Don't you see the actual bigger take here? The Mutants did EXACTLY what the humans had kept saying and they got out, and yet they are STILL being targeted and attacked even when they have done exactly what the humans had told them to do. Thats oppression and discrimination too. We see this in the real world as well. When black communities actually began to build themselves up and were attacked from neighboring white communities for getting too prosperous. Them going back to the school being attacked every few weeks won't make it anymore about bigotry and oppression it will just be something you are familiar with and so you're comfortable with it.

So Hickman and the last X editor brought back all the good faith that marvel burned over the decades ( especially Bendis), brought everyone back to the title, then unceremoniously tank it, and make the X-men closer to the Avengers. The last thing they X-men need is to be more like the Avengers or more ingratiated with them,

We have literally no idea how the X-Men will be portrayed and written with Brevoort as the new editor. Calling out Bendis when his run was fairly successful and he actually left the X-Men in a good spot with Uncanny X-Men 600 is funny. It was an abject disaster between him and Hickman. You’re also discounting the era with the fantastic Uncanny X-Force by Remender and Wolverine and the X-Men by Aaron. Those books were better than essentially the entire Krakoa era. Remender’s Uncanny Avengers with the first 4 volumes was fantastic where having X-Men and Avengers on the same team worked. You just have to worry about editorial forcing arcs into full blown events.
@DanV900 Жыл бұрын
@binglybingler2598 I didn’t call the Krakoa era a disaster. I called the era between Bendis and Hickman a disaster which had the awful death of Cyclops and X-Men vs Inhumans for corporate synergy to make the X-Men less relevant. They weren’t trying to replace the X-Men in that way during the Bendis era and Uncanny X-Force and Wolverine and the X-Men post Schism were awesome. X-Force has never been as good as it was during Remender’s run which still has the best Apocalypse related story. Those 2 comics were quite a bit better than everything Krakoa related for the most part.
