Haha.. Modern Voortrekkers. Kinda learning why the folks of olden times did things the way they did.

Exciting plans for 2024! Good luck building your road. That looks like a beast of a project. I like seeing the video of your wildly successful plants and flowers. Looks like you have propagation and irrigation nailed. How has your field size drip irrigation system worked out? I'll be watching 😊

I will add some quick peek on the field for you in upcoming videos. The water usage is down to 250litres a day (not sure about gallons) and the plants are thriving! So I think it's good. I just need to design in for overly hot water in the day time (can't drip in the heat of day). Thanks for the visit Steve.

@@SimpleEarthSelfReliance My pleasure! Thank you for the post. 250 liters is 66 gallons (seems I'm converting US to imperial or metric all the time 🤣 SO to put that into visible US terms - about 1 - 55 gallon drum of water per day. So happy to hear that the plants are thriving That's super and it makes my day! Regarding hot water, I would not water in the heat of day. That is the secondary value of the battery operated digital timers. Simply accept that there will be some leaf wilt due to the heat of the sun. On the other hand, if the hot water is not dripping directly at the stem of the plant, I'd be very curious to know if the hot water is increasing the soil temperature compared to the surrounding unirrigated soil. I don't know the optimal soil temp for growing - but generally speaking, warmer is better. Although with climate change we are seeing new parameters unfold. One thought, if you have any means to protect the tubing from the suns UV( dirt, mulch, shade (row cover?)) the tubing will have a longer life and your water will be cooler. Have you looked at "row cover" as an inexpensive means of pest control and shade? If you Google "white floating row cover fabric" you'll find multiple vendors. I would suggest a small trial on some veg that may be susceptible to your insects. All the best my friend!😊

Being in the built up concrete city, it is just the greatest thing to watch your videos. Feels like I am out there. Building day is going to be very interesting. Hard work and planning, but is going to be so worth it n the end. 🤠😄
