New Year's Eve & Hannah's Bday in Chiang Mai, Thailand - We have to say goodbye | Travel Vlog 23

This week was bittersweet, we got to spend more time in Chiang Mai and even had some travel buddies visit us for New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Thailand.
We welcomed 2023 on the streets of Chiang Mai, which was definitely one we will never forget.
We walked the monk trail and Nolan even got to speak with one of the monks.
We celebrated the "little beans" (Hannah) fifth birthday at The Grand Canyon Waterpark and the kids had a blast.
We have said it so many times in our videos, but we just want to say thank you to everyone we met in Thailand and for all the kindness we were shown over the last month.

Hi Jo it’s Jess! Danny didn’t include it in the video but that family was just the spirit of this country and made the night for us: they couldn’t speak English but they were sitting next to us while we waited for fireworks and just went out of their way to include our children in all their family’s fun. They gave all our our kids home made fire crackers to play with them, and sparklers then invited our family to light the lantern with them. They were so warm and kind and made us so happy. Everett was so grateful to light a lantern because they were sold out. I watched this video twice now and cried both times thinking about them- they were so beautiful. I hope they see this one day and know how special they were.❤ happy new year to everyone there - I think we are headed back now because we miss it so much. Xxx

We don't have the ocean in Ontario, but we also have beautiful lakes and waterfalls. You can see one of our beautiful lakes in the first vlog Danny made. Our winters are long though.... Thailand has been an amazing escape from Canadian winters. We are getting a small reminder of it here in Vietnam... it's very cold here in the north as well... we are ready for the beach again and we have only been here a few weeks haha!

Just curious.. How come you went to Philippines after Malaysia, and not Thailand before going to Philippines? Malaysia and Thailand are just a stretch of the land border. Perhaps your next destination will explain it. Great video about Chiang Mai!

For some reason the flights from Malaysia to Philippines was cheaper than flying to Thailand at that time. Not sure why, but we took advantage of it. Thanks for watching.

Ya we kind of kick ourselves now because we could have taken a boat from Langkawi but we didn’t plan it in advance just booked where we were going based on flights alone. But actually I think we were also considering the weather - and we thought at the time we would want to spend Christmas in the Philippines too. Sometimes we look back in retrospect and realize we would have changed so much about how we planned things but there are so many variables when you are travelling with kids no decision is simple and easy. Making things easy for them is usually first on our list. If it were just tie two of us we would just pick the cheapest route and go haha!
