For those who know the drink sorrel tastes something like an Arabic Middle Eastern drink called “jallab” or red sobia or sobia hamra !! I came across it in Canada and it was very similar, it came in a concentrated mixture!! The sorrel we know in Trinidad/Caribbean is a type of hibiscus called hibiscus sabdariffa flower !! 🇹🇹🏴

I think we're all the same even in our diversity. I'm from Nigeria. The beans ( black eyed peas) is a regular meal, we can eat it with bread and the hibiscus is called zobo here which is a refreshing drink especially when chilled.

Black eye peas is Southern must have, corn bread. Nope, we put hot cornbread crumble in buttermilk or milk. Of course I hate sweet cornbread, I make mine from scratch without sugar. Love to use bacon grease or shortening in my cast iron skillet on the bottom to melt and get hot then scrape the cornbread mixture in the skillet it makes a nice crust on the bottom. Yummy.

You can buy the Jamaican version by the gallon here in Vegas, but better to make your own ( less expensive)... So good.
