Came for the engines - stayed for the wallpaper! Such a brilliant backdrop for the machinery.

I am immensely pleased to be of service, and grateful that i have helped pull your son from the gaping mouth of the hell-world that the un-people have made to swallow all the youngsters. He's welcome to come work the machines here

@@Russellbristow I agree with a passion to this comment we rely so much on modern tech when the day comes when we need to go back to steam we are going to be stuck

They are actually about this close to having me because the US is rotten to its core in terms of how it treats its youth and apathy for its history and because I have more friends, more productive friends and friends who have far more to work with in the UK. A great deal of my skills and attitude regarding machinery and life also came from British ex pats who were fond of me in my youth.

@ Well! It would be great to have you in the UK! I can think of no greater ambassador for steam engine education for the young than yourself.

Mr .Karnes , What happened to the steam program at Bergen Tech high school in NJ.? I visited once 30 years ago and they had a steam pump from the Jersey City Colgate plant that my grandfather was a Blue Seal engineer at for decades before his retirement at 65 and death at 66.

A leaking piston ring might not be the worst thing in the world. This time of year, a home humidifier like that might even be a good thing.

i got an aluminum bodied oil check valve on my bike. oldheads say the best way to get a good seal is to get 2 new ball bearings, use one as a die and use a hammer and punch to seat it, and use the other one for service
@fragmissle593228 күн бұрын
Always been interested in steam, are you looking for more people to come in and help with the equipment you run?
@Shipwright191820 күн бұрын
Sucks the checks weren't working right, feed pump was running pretty sweet otherwise. Could be worse, checks could be sticking open and then you've got steam and water going out the overflow and a mad search for a hammer to try and knock 'em loose so they'll seat down.

So if my understanding is correct, the governor controls how early/late the trip is set off thus increasing/reducing the amount of time steam is allowed in and out of the cylinder depending on the load. How are the traps set off though? Is there a vacuum created somewhere?

lap or peen the check valve?
