New Years eve with guy Lombardo's royal Canadians 1978-1979 Full show

I put all the internet archive videos of this program together but they are some cuts for some reason, but I tried my best to edit this video anyways this was the last broadcast that CBS did with guy Lombardo and the royal Canadians they would replace there special with Happy New Year, America also by this time of the last New Years eve with guy Lombardo's and the royal Canadian broadcast guy Lombardo was dead for 1 year.
anyways enjoy the video. this video also has original commercial this New Year's Eve special was taped by former local CBS affiliate station WJKW, Ch. 8, Cleveland now a fox affiliate station now also, all copyright music in This video goes to the copyright holders.

Back in the day CBS was condidered to be the "old folks network". Until I got my own tv at 14 this was how I spent my NY's eve with the parents. I'd kill to get to do it one more time.

This was the last network broadcast.Bill was no Guy.The opening number ,Baby Face ,the overly fast rhythm was too fast.And I have no idea why John Anthony was chosen to replace Kenny Gardner.I know this show was over forty years ago but I’m still very much interested in this once suppered band..Well anyway Guy’s eventually sold the band and it really was all downhill since.Al Pierson eventually became the ongoing leader but never came close to capturing the magic of Guy’s leadership.

I remember watching Guy Lombardos new years eve. After he passed away I remember his nephew tried to continue the tradition but it didn't last long.

Very sad , The Tradition passed to ABCs Dick Clarks rockin Eve , When that came out it sucked all the viewers away from CBS Guy Lombardos New Year’s Eve Party , at that time the younger generation thought CBS was for old people and the older folks of the time , and to the extent CBS in the 70s was most certainly for the older folks …

This was the last NYE that the Lombardos would host the show on CBS. It just wasn't the same after Guy died. CBS then tried to attract the audience that went to Dick Clark on ABC with "Happy New Year, America". Paul Anka hosted for two years from Las Vegas, and both times he botched the countdown.

Victor Lombardo did the New Year’s Eve special in 1977 into 78 and in my opinion looked so much like his brother Guy Lombardo they truly had a huge resemblance to one another, I personally thought he should of been permanent host after Guy … But CBS is known to get rid of good old things that we like , I remember when Scott pelley took over as Anchor of the CBS Evening News they had the Original Theme music Playing up until 2016 when cbs decided to change it and lost so much viewers because of it, they then tried to change anchors and Fired Pelley for Jeff glor which he only lasted I believe 1 year then Norah O Donnell took over and then CBS decided to go back to the original CBS theme song… Which to me was funny , because as I said cbs is known to do very funky things to not only there music theme songs but there Tv hosts but there Anchors and Newspeople too , I’ve seen so many come and go of that network… It’s sad

Victor Lombardo, left shortly after the New Year of 78, due to a disagree ment with Lebert, concerning continueing the band, Victor wanted to change the style, saying that the band was " old ", and needing to update the sound to keep in step, well it is all over now anyway

NOTE: I do not know why there is along beep from 11:33 to 12:16 I guess it had something to do with the tape operators back in the WJKW, Ch. 8, which were tapeing the New Years eve special from the WJKW, Ch. 8, control room in Cleveland Ohio

50th anniversary? More like the last one ever! From next year ringing in tue 1980s decade onward for that time being, the New Years Eve with Guy Lembardo and his Royal Canadians Orchestra specials were cancelled permanently (despite a brief Comeback on PBS as a tribute documentary/concert hybrid hosted by Gavin MacLeod to ring in 1995) and replaced with Happy New Years America that ran from 1980-1996.

@@Tom-TV-vl4to oh alright cool but to tell you the truth here ever since I started watching videos of that ball drop in NYC for New Year’s Eve videos I saw some video clips of that ball drop from that show Happy New Year America on the CBS channel which replaced Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians and I’ve enjoyed the show after that HNYA and those shows were cool when I looked it up on Wikipedia it said that HNYA raged from 1979-1980 to 1995-1996 and I’ve watched all the 1980s show clips and partly the 1990s clips and I’ve been waiting a super long time for some of the full episodes of that show to be uploaded especially the 1995-1996 show I’ve definitely been dying to see that and I’m still hoping someone would upload those full shows soon nothing against you and I don’t blame you if you don’t seem to have any of those
