It definitely depends. We got very lucky and feels affordable considering location and space. But yah it’s very easy to pay a lot for rent in NY and takes work to find those spots that are hidden gems and affordable.

How do you support yourself while in law school? This is impossible to afford without a full time job

LOL it’s just loans my guy. A ton of loans to pay my share of rent and groceries and such. My partner also pays for a share of the rent.

I live with my long term partner so we split rent. And I used savings for deposit and brokers fee. And now taking out student loans to cover my portion of rent.

Such a great apartment! Is this in Manhattan? I’m planning a move from LA to NYC and finding apartments for around $3k is tough. Did you have to explore other boroughs? Any neighborhoods you recommend? Thanks!

It is in Manhattan and yah our original budget we thought would have to be more around 3.5k but we got lucky. We went further north on Manhattan which helped. You can definitely look outside Manhattan. I just wanted to make my commute easier.
