What a fantastic hospital administrator! Your medical team must be pretty happy working under you. The best thing you can do is let you doctors use their brains, training, and ingenuity when the standard protocol doesn't fit the case the patient in front of them is presenting. You are all heroes! Keep up the good work!

Thank you Howard for your thoughtful questions and informative interviews. Your interview today really sheds a light on the intense struggles hospitals, especially New York hospitals, have had to deal with given the constricted resources and overwhelmed staff. The doctors and nurses who have little ability to offer support for these critically ill patients except a few medications, oxygen and the compassion in their hearts. We will get through this and it will eventually end, in the meantime celebrations of little successes make all the difference.

Grocery store employees, transit employees need to wear masks. Masks should have been recommended for everyone in public from the very beginning. If we want to have an effective mitigation as South Korea and Taiwan are currently achieving and maintaining, then we need to follow their excellent example and adopt similar strategies. Masks for everyone, extensive testing and contact tracing and transparency about where the infections are occurring.
@warbler1984
@warbler1984 4 жыл бұрын
I disagree about the masks...only because with the extreme lack of PPE it should be reserved for medical staff and not everyone who wants a mask.

@@warbler1984 I am talking about cloth masks. Easy to make. Lots of instructions online, some no sew. Some instructions are from hospital websites like Michael Garron hospital. There is absolutely no excuse to not cover your nose and mouth when you are in public to prevent any droplet spread by you! Be a responsible citizen and WEAR A MASK! Reduce the spread so healthcare workers won't die from you going out in public and spreading the virus to untold numbers of people! Healthcare workers are wearing masks when they fo get groceries and you should too!

It seems they are getting it together and getting the for us because I did get N95 type masks here in southern calif and it’s a small material type mask with a filter in it and that mask I can’t breath well with it on so how do I get one that I can breath better with it on ?

When one is HIV negative, and have random sex, insist partner wear condom, because HIV got no symptom. Same here lot of Covid 19, carrier got no symptom. Musk prevent droplet from exhale breath, cough, sneeze to travel further. Do not under estimate children too, they usually have no symptom but they can be carrier, so make sure they are lock down to prevent them from getting infected and then infect their parent.

I'm 61, told my daughter sometimes I think I'd rather just get it and get over it, just a shame that pesky side effect is death. I'd feel like a super hero being asymptomatic and helping my local hospital and the families by being there with their loved one.

The shortage of proper ppe's should have been addressed back in January. Can hospitals really not see and plan beyond a two week time period. Since Feb. 1 at the latest, these masks should have been reused as much as possible and disinfected with UV light or heat (160 degree celsius for 30 minutes). Staff such as parking attendants and custodial staff should have been encouraged to purchase half face respirators with p100 filters from home supply stores. Where was the administrative leadership and preparedness and planning. This is all so demonstrative of mass incompetence and negligence. It is not enough to say 'but this has never happened before'. We all new the risks of something like this happening and the response was unacceptably inadequate and incompetent.

NY Times: But Dr. Howard C. Bauchner, the editor in chief of JAMA, said that verifying each author’s disclosures would not be worth the time or effort. “The vast majority of authors are honest and do want to fulfill their obligations to tell readers and editors what their conflicts of interest could be,” he said in an interview.

You can tell the host was fighting back tears in the end! yes even the viewers can tell Dr Katz is very compassionate! Strange how the hosts asks every single guest about effectiveness of hydrochloroquine, zinc, azithromicyn, but no guests on this show has given anything more than a neutral response. It’s almost like they’ve been gagged.

This drug has many dangerous side effects and has been irresponsibly hyped. The doctors cannot ethically recommend it, however trials are ongoing in many countries for early prevention. It seems unlikely that it will be the life saver for those with the progressed disease.
@Str8xDaNgLeSx10
@Str8xDaNgLeSx10 4 жыл бұрын
a neutral response is all they can give. There’s no clear cut data that it works or it doesn’t. It can take months to complete proper studies that produce reliable data. Also, there’s so many factors that play a role in a patient’s wellbeing, so it’s hard to say a patient was liberated from a vent and discharged just because he/she received those medications. It could have been that the patient was proned at the right time, sedated enough for vent compliance, received hemodialysis when needed, vent settings were titrated appropriately, etc, or maybe the patient was just lucky...
@LH095
@LH095 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s so dangerous that it’s given to sickest people such as Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis patients on a long term basis and very little side effects are seen for years. Anything I say or other YT commenters is hearsay, just watch Dr. Oz interviewing Dr. Daniel Wallace regarding this drug.
@Str8xDaNgLeSx10
@Str8xDaNgLeSx10 4 жыл бұрын
dr. oz is a pseudoscience quack who is all about the fame and fortune, so most statements from him can’t be trusted. The use of plaquenil + azithromycin can prolong QTs, putting people at risk for ventricular arrhythmias. It’s all about the risks vs. benefits, and at this moment, the risks seem to outweigh the benefits.
