I know it’s really bad and super lazy but I was trying to work and get something out real fast before I get busy again. Au- When Luke left camp and tried to kill Percy he said the city (New York) would be his. Percy took his words and turned them around the city would be his to protect. So when Percy died during the battle of Manhattan(in this au) he told Nico the city was his to protect now.
