Nothing compares to R32s on the Brighton line in the 60s and 70s. The R40s were best on the E&F. When those stations and the R1/9s were still lit with incandescent bulbs those cars with the gleaming stainless steel and bright front signs looked so modern and awesome.

Back in the 1980's, I took the B train to work from Brooklyn NY. I got on at the Bay Parkway and 86th street station. The train originated at Coney Island. I remember the going from Bay Parkway and 86 St. until it went underground at 36th street in Brooklyn, NY. Then it went express to Pacific Street in Brooklyn. Looks like the B trains route was changed.

Yup. I believe in 2004 after the tracks repairs that carry B & D train service over the Manhattan bridge coincide with Stilwell Ave/ Coney Island station renovation was completed, the two lines swap. B became Brighton Express in Brooklyn and the D via 4th became west end.

The B was moved off the West End Line in mid 2001 for the Manhattan Bridge work. The W was created to replace it in Brooklyn while the B ran from 34th Street north to 145 and Bedford Park Blvd. 34 to 145 being only about 14 stops. Prior to this, the B ran as a shuttle overnight between Stillwell and 36th street. When they reopened both sides of the bridge in early 2004, the B was made the Brighton Express and the D the west end local so that the B could be shut down at nights and weekends and give all four lines at Coney full time regular through service to Manhattan. Also the Brighton Line ridership made it known they preferred Broadway service so the Q was promoted to permanent full time Brighton local.

Very enjoyable and informative video. It's a shame about all the trash on the tracks at the open air stations. Do you know what all the white bags are in the subway? Thanks very much.
@wtaenyc
@wtaenyc Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for sharing. We agree that it is unfortunate about the trash and as the system installs more trash receptacles, we imagine that folks will continue to use them, so that their trash doesn't get onto the tracks. As for the white bags you mentioned, it is believed that those bags are bags the employees use, when they are doing work on the tracks in that area; maybe they are left there until the work train passes to retrieve them and/or the workers come back to finish their work. 💯🫡
